Well, I knew that it's impossible for Guanxue to let the Japanese girl go. That would be the dumbest thing to do, they'd all die in no time coz the girl would tell the father.
Guankai and Xieyue are both naive & impulsive youths. Very typical behavior of that age. Also, Guanxue's position guaranteed her a lot of enemies sooner or later. They're gonna target her closest family which is Guankai. Brainwash him, manipulate him, kidnap him, kill him, etc. So many ways to attack Guanxue without directly attacking her.

That the man who hit the Japanese girl with his car is Guanxue’s man and his car passed by when Zhuowen was walking with Lao Qian. What does that tell us? That Guanxie knew that Zhuowen’s a Communist? That man would’ve noticed Zhuowen right? Can’t be a coincidence.

I’ve been on MDL for some time now and commenting on different Cdramas. Fanwar is common but not on MDL. This is rare and it distracts ppl from discussing abt the drama. It’ll be helpful if we continue to bring the discussion back to the drama and drown out those useless hate comments.

Yeah I felt the same. That’s why I believe he and the maid are hiding something AND their real identities from Guanxue. They looked like a couple by the way she put on his hat when he was abt to leave.

It has become a habit to rely on subs but I hope to eventually get to the point where I don’t have to, even for period costume dramas.

Yeah I personally like War of Faith more but to me they’re also quite different though both are Republican Era espionage dramas. Both Guan Kai and Cui Anping’s arcs are necessary to push the plot along but I was also surprised that Cui Anping’s arc dragged on a bit longer than expected.

I do read subs so YM’s lines delivery doesn’t affect me much. Subs are support to me since my Mandarin is just ok. I’m so bummed abt Blossoms Shanghai for this very reason 😪

I was confused too but I think…she’s trying to find his flaw coz she said now that she knows his flaw, he’s not so scary anymore. If someone has no flaw, that means he’s hiding something coz it’s impossible for someone to be flawless. My worry is that she might have other ideas with Director Jin abt Zhuowen that we don’t know yet.

Yeah War of Faith is good too. And I noticed even WoF and many recent Cdramas like to have a few eps that go nowhere in the middle just to drag the drama longer than it should.

I’ve caught up to the latest episode and my anxiety level is up a few notch. And I watched the next 2 eps’ teasers. I think we might get a glimpse of what Asano’s motive might be. I also wonder if Guanxue is more honest with Zhuowen or with Director Jin. And who’s the man in the wheelchair she left behind?! As for Zhuowen, I just have a feeling that he’s might slip and fall anytime.
