Lowkey sad that the rating for this drama is just 7.8. It should be 8 at least. It’s rare that Cdramaland produces such a thought-provoking, serious drama about women and it should be encouraged and supported more.

Yeah I felt the same. Also it wasn’t a good alt ending for Shen Mu either, being the Robin Hood and always on the run. They could’ve matched him with Rulan instead.

Yup but the girls were ordinary young girls from different backgrounds. They weren’t mature enough like Sanniang who had been exposed to men. I believe in society back then, young girls wouldn’t have many male friends. So they’re pretty naive when it comes to the opposite sex. Let alone corruption and power plays.

That’s why Mengwan had to prepare for 7 years to take him down coz just demanding for a fair trial isn’t gonna happen with Mdm Ning and Prefect Chen protecting that scum.

How severe is the punishment of being exiled for thousands of miles? Not just in this drama but I always see this kinda exile punishment and it seems as if it’s like a death sentence or something.

Yeah besides being empathetic, he understands the ingrained beliefs women living in a patriarchal society have abt themselves. I believe he must’ve done a lot of research and maybe interviews with women when he wrote this novel.

I was very impressed when I found out that the screenwriter is a man & now you said the author’s also a man! I AM IMPRESSED! And grateful to the author for writing such a story.

Probably end up pricking his throat, he’ll choke on his blood, then he’ll cough, coughing would agitate the needle & it’ll prick elsewhere, he won’t be able to breathe, then blek 😵he dies. Eww just imagining it is gross. Rulan died by stabbing herself with a hairpin and Wulian’s a needle. Both pointy things to the throat. Ouch my throat feels weird 😰
