I’m also a bit taken by surprise at how many ppl are so unforgiving of the ML’s ‘weakness’. Ppl usually complain when the ML is always the hero and knows everything but now with this drama, they have a different reaction. Usually ppl love to see how a lead character grows from a nobody to a hero but here, a lot of ppl are suddenly so impatient. I also think that ML getting help is actually more realistic. It’s not like he didn’t achieve anything on his own. Like in the first trial he did get the box himself. If Harry Potter could get help from his friends, so can GZY 😂.
Your theory is very possible too but I believe they made BaiYu with very fake old man makeup in order to make it obvious to viewers that it’s him faking it and YLX knows it too. Coz the makeup skills in China cannot be that lousy 😂

The drama isn’t over yet so let’s see how his character develops. If I’m not mistaken Jin Fan said to GZS that GZY has a mission for ‘them’. So if it did include GZS I wonder if he had other purpose but was interrupted by the guards signal. GZS does need his permission to go out. Also I’m not sure if Jin Fan needs to be close to GZY at all times since he’s his bodyguard. If he had sent him out alone, he might expose himself to danger. I still think there’s a bigger reason why his father put a Red Jade Guard beside him and not even a Yellow Jade Guard.

I think she’s suppressing her feelings for him. She knows what she’s there for & she knows it’s impossible to have any kind of HE with him so she’s not giving herself any space to think of the possibility. But she definitely started having feelings for him when he cooked porridge for her.
