Ok so I’ve read the post on the deleted scene & it would’ve made clearer why GZY is the rightful SW & that he’s not as useless as many thinks. It’s so important I don’t know why they deleted this! I’m sharing it here in case anyone missed the post. - GZY has photographic memory. The tattoo behind the SW’s back will start to fade the moment he dies. While the elder was tattooing on GZY’s back, it faded away from the father’s back. ZY had seen it once as a child & he remembered it. If it weren’t for ZY’s memory the tattoo wouldn’t have been completed. If it were GSJ instead of GZY, you can imagine what would happen. - Elder Yue brought medical books for ZY coz ZY has medical knowledge & is among the few Gong family members who cultivate the Snowmelt Heart Sutra. So there you go. GZY is not a weak nor useless ML.
