I’m at Ep 27 and god know how many times I’ve cried. If you understand Chinese and likes some serious drama from time to time do give it a try. Brilliant actors and good quality drama.
Watching Ep 2 of MangoTV now. Using my half-baked Chinese and machine sub(which sucks) to understand the drama. This is a serious drama, I can’t describe it as entertaining but after Ep 1, I wanna keep watching coz I’m interested in Chinese history & I’m already feeling so much emotions for Jin Fu the good governor who’s being slandered and the poor people. I don’t get why ppl would say things like there’s no female cast so it’s boring. I can’t relate coz I watch dramas for the stories and I don’t really care if there’s a balance of m/f actors. Just my opinion. This drama definitely is not for everyone & maybe only for those who care abt serious historical drama. I love the cinematography. It feels like watching recolored old footage at times & 1 thing I really appreciate is how they show a more realistic hairstyle on the men with unshaven top. Usually dramas always show the queue with very bald top but if you look at old photos, many men had some hair or unshaven top.
Love Qinhao’s version of Wuxie but I found my favorite version of Hei Xiazi here! Ji Chen as Hei Xiazi is perfect. Also this is the 1st drama in the DMBJ series that didn’t leave me feeling confused 🤣 Only thing I don’t like is the romance. Both Zhang Rishan/Liang Wan and Li Cu/Shen Qiong. The drama could’ve been way better and shorter without those filler romance.
I think anyone who didn't watch the whole drama and purely rely on the comments of others(who also didn't watch…
Yeah I agree, there were a lot of people who gave bad reviews even before the drama ended. In fact, when it ran the first few episodes, people especially diehard fans of Jinyong didn't like it and another round when they found out who was gonna play Cheng Lingsu coz they said CLS should be ugly. They didn't give themselves a chance or an open mind to watch it. I personally have no problem with CLS's actress. I'd rather watch her than an 'ugly' actress(as if C-ent has ugly actresses) but then again, I'm that person who had forgotten details when I first watched it as a kid.
I like wuxia but got wary to start after AX said she's not gonna watch this because she saw people in weibo said…
I think anyone who didn't watch the whole drama and purely rely on the comments of others(who also didn't watch the whole drama) cannot provide a reliable review. I'd say watch the drama on your own and form your own opinion from there. I watched the whole drama and although the plot has flaws for sure, I really have no complaints on the fight scenes. They're awesome. Still wowed by the fight scene between Hu Fei and Miao Renfeng in Ep 22.
Does Ying Tao become likable? I'm watching episode 27 and find her nearly unbearable. The relationship between…
She's the weakest link but maybe it's because she's introduced quite late in the drama. By that time, the other characters are already as tight as a family. She did become more likable later and it was quite fun to see Su Wuming getting dominated by her.
There's nothing wrong if AX decided not to watch this drama if she's not comfortable watching the male lead YXW.…
A big part of the success of this drama is the actors and their chemistry with each other especially between the 2 MLs. To me, the cases are all predictable and if it weren't for the actors including YXW, I'd have enjoyed this drama less.
Finally forced myself to finish watching the drama. Personal opinion here...what a huge letdown. Made me so frustrated with their unbelievable stupidity. Blame the scriptwriters I guess but they made the characters take ALL the wrong decisions, become as dumb and careless as one could get just to push the plot forward. The characters are so ridiculously dumb that I as a viewer felt insulted and at the end I actually rooted for the villains coz they seemed way smarter and more resourceful. The only saving grace is Tan Jianci's acting. Very disappointing coz it started so well.
I had the same reaction as you with the first case. Felt it was a bit draggy but keep watching. After the 1st…
Don't remember exactly. Around Ep 6? When they left Chang'an. It really is worth a little patience at the beginning. The character development(of all of them) is really good.
