Eh, I've said it a couple of times on other threads, you were very talented, a perfect performance, right from the part of the selective mutism, the necessary language barrier of the first episodes brought out the best thanks to the very wide range of expressions represented, also not always necessarily dramatic (I found the finger scene, for example, really funny! ), a bit like in the silent movies of the golden age of cinema (perhaps it may have seen noir classics like Siodmak's ‘The Spiral Staircase’. who knows)...
Simply communicating with a look is not a common skill even in show business, let alone the dedication to learning sign language; a devotion worthy of high praise, then, really great chemistry with the partner, but this has already been said ad infinitum!
She is definitely a very meticulous actress who had already impressed me personally at the time of ‘I'm Not A Robot’ (a drama I love very much!); She has a light in her eyes that gives her a kind of distinctiveness even in the immense and competitive South Korean acting scene, she is ‘only’ 30 years old and is already - rightly - considered a high level actress, then, in my personal opinion, I find her incredibly seductive...
Absolutely deserved all the praise it is garnering!
We should never underestimate the media hype that television companies are able to generate, and Netflix, like Disney+ and the like always succeed very well in this respect, there is nothing to say about this point, it tends to create a cascade effect thanks also to social networks or platforms and sites like reddit that increase interest also by word of mouth;
From time to time I happen to read in British newspapers (but also in Italian magazines, albeit with less attendance) ‘amazing’ reviews of movies distributed on the platforms with comments that are far too over the top, it's that concept of continuous hyperbole whereby each ‘new’ film or series in distribution is always better than the previous ones...
For me, WTPR turned out to be a very good series up to the last episode, which was really absurd in terms of continuity of narrative logic, lacking, in my opinion, the courage to make less standardised choices (I would have liked something more ‘unresolved’ perhaps like ‘Alhambra'), but these are personal observations (I will watch the drama again in the near future) that do not detract from the excellent work done by Yoo Yeon Seok, even though, again in my personal opinion, Chae So Bin is even more surprising in his role...
He is definitely very talented, he is yet another all-round performer of a generation that has produced truly phenomenal actors, so lots and lots of applause for him, there will be no shortage of proposals!
Only prayers for these poor souls and their families, the rest really doesn't matter... it's since yesterday when I saw the news (in Italy early in the morning) that I can't think of anything else; even children and whole families, what a terrible tragedy...
Happy Happy Birthday! I love your work in...everything! You are in so many dramas or films that I adore, really perfect in ‘Room No. 9 Happy Birthday to You!
‘Black Out’ for me is one of the best dramas of 2024, moreover a perfect example of how one can take a rather conventional novel, a pale imitation Made in Germany of the style of Jeffrey Deaver or Patricia Cornwell and adapt it perfectly to South Korean canons, with great filmic rendering; great overall cast, but really Byun Yo Han exceptional (Go Jun too, however);
Happy for Kim Hee Sun, ‘Bitter Sweet Hell’ beautiful but not outstanding, she's always fabulous, but even there, the whole cast (almost) perfect!
I'm following ‘When The Phone Ring’ but I haven't quite got my head around it yet, apart from Soo Bin who is really magnificent (in everything!)
Bo Ra was also very talented in the excellent ‘Black Out’ (one of the best series of 2024, at least for me), and then she is so pretty! This drama intrigues me a lot (although i honestly don't know the original series), then there's the wonderful Go Hyun Jung so the whole thing definitely looks promising!
For a legitimately ambitious actor, it is essential to accept new challenges in order not to remain stuck in a standardized role, or worse, a cliché; he is right to mention Brad Pitt as an example because the Hollywood actor, who obviously has a very long career due to his more mature age, has always shown great versatility in even complex roles (I am thinking of ‘Jesse James’, his excellent work with Tarantino, or ‘Fight Club’, just to go by memory...).
Let's say that SJK should not be too afraid to ‘’soil‘’ his image a bit (I really appreciate this necessary and justified ‘amorality’ in ‘Vincenzo’), he is in any case a top level actor in the Dramaverse so both for movies and TV he will have plenty of opportunities;
this film set in Bogotá looks really interesting, against the backdrop of the IMF crisis of 1997 which then, it is interesting to remember, as can be seen from the plot, did a lot of disaster in Korea, but led to the growth reaction of the Asian country, also laying the basis for the birth and explosion of the ‘’Korean wave‘’ (with investments in culture and entertainment).
As for the family, nothing to say, he has found a gorgeous partner (Katy Louise Saunders is really a beautiful woman!), he, lucky him, is a very handsome man (great envy!), the children will be genetically beautiful, and moreover they have a lovely connection with Italy, I think I read that the daughter was born in Florence (but I could easily be wrong), so much happiness to them and keep up the good work!
Eh, great guy and really high-class actor; It would be nice if the film could also find distribution in the western countries, it is a work that, it goes without saying, would be essential to see on the big screen, but I see it as rather difficult as it has not been presented at European festivals; it is a historical period that I personally am very interested in, that of Japanese colonialism;
As for the rest, now that he's a husband and father, there are many responsibilities and the children, in my opinion, take priority over everything; sooner or later we all grow up and once you're over 40, you see the world from a different perspective...
Of course they are a beautiful couple, and she is absolutely fabulous, but we already knew that... They found each other at the ‘perfect moment’, all the love of the world to them, it's nice to know they are so connected...
"something out of 1970s Chile"With many other possible similar examples, including Korea itself, why did you choose…
(For Rammstein CSGO) Italy has always had very strong ties with Chile, welcoming the music band Inti Illimani immediately after the ‘73 coup, there is a whole literary and cinematographic culture that often finds space in the cultural programmes of our TVs; Isabel Allende herself often comes to Italy for conferences and book presentations...
The scenes of Pinochet's coup have often been shown on TV (9/11 is not just about the Twin Towers) I could never have mentioned Korea itself because, very guiltily, this nation has often been ignored in terms of information (at least until the ‘88 Olympic Games) and very little was known about the previous coups (successful or not); Even today, in 2024 there is little, very little attention paid to the reality of South Korea, there is much more talk of North Korea in an always negative key (as is easy to imagine...)
In the collective imaginary (at least in my case) those scenes with tanks in the streets immediately reminded me of those sad b/w images
Shocking scenes, soldiers and even tanks in the streets, as well as barricades inside the palace, something out of 1970s Chile, it was great to see all the young people take to the streets, immediately, even though it was late at night, there was constant TV coverage and news even here in Italy, but the BBC was excellent, which made a nice non-stop, happy for the immediate response of the people (and parliament!), this figure (with his relatives) I think his hours are numbered
The movie unfortunately I have not yet seen, but considering the similarities, it should certainly be recuperated
Practically just reading Ha Ji Won's name made me wince, but then look at the rest of the cast what a fairytale of names! This title must be monitored very closely, awaiting further developments in the story Thanks
Many, Many Best Wishes to our beautiful one! ♥️ Truly a queen of talent and undisputed class it is always a joy to see you perform! But it's true, the current photo doesn't do you justice, it would take something to highlight your magnificent smile (a bit like the photographs developed in the ending of ‘Encounter’) See you very soon with your new projects Happy Happy Birthday to you!
I've written about it on several occasions, I really like Yoon Se Ah, a truly complete actress capable of making her characters ‘grow’ as the story proceeds. I remember her in the same year offering two notable characterisations in both ‘SKY Castle’ (which is a beautiful drama! ) and ‘Good Witch’ (which is also well conceived and realised); ‘Perfect Family’ I temporarily abandoned, it wasn't particularly winning me over as a story, I'm more or less staying away from the reviews here on MDL which seem quite humoral= Roller Coaster of ratings, from masterpiece to disaster! This film, who knows, it seems like the horror genre is experiencing yet another flowering... But... Working mother, cameras in the house, children.... From films like ‘Entity’ onwards cinema and TV have abused it in industrial quantities... We'll read the developments... However, she is always very busy, even this drama ‘Love Me’, I am happy for her, well done!
Happy birthday to our wonderful Chae Won ❤️ I hope soon in a new project, built especially on you, that will allow you to show all your huge talent. As others have pointed out here, you have the maturity to make the leap and definitely add yourself to the other stars of your generation, personally I have no doubts, every time you are on stage you immediately capture the attention, great charisma and great acting class, the rest I don't need to add, you are so beautiful!
Happy birthday beautiful Chung Ah! now you are one of my personal favourites, superb this year in the excellent "Hide" see you soon with new exciting projects, hopefully Best wishes to you! ❤️
