That’s a really good point that I missed! I was honestly a bit sad seeing it only has an 8.6 rating, even though it felt so perfect in every aspect. I was expecting it to be above 9/10—because why not, right? But now I get it… the ratings are mostly based on big fandoms. So I guess I can feel pretty satisfied with the score now. Thanks for pointing that out! And yes, it really does tick all the boxes—it’s been a long time since I’ve been this obsessed with a Chinese drama.

I’m someone who tried Flourished Peony but gave up on it… maybe that’s why our opinions differ. I honestly didn’t like it at all. For me, it’s the one that's way, way below LOTFG.

Glad to see a novel reader saying this! I’ve seen so many comments here and on social media from people disappointed that the drama didn’t follow the novel’s plot—especially the reincarnation part. They didn’t seem to mind the regulations at all; in fact, many even mentioned how other dramas had similar plots without much fuss. Anyway, I honestly loved it, and it makes me so happy to see others who genuinely enjoyed it too. It means even more coming from you since you’ve actually read the novel and still found it enjoyable.

Hello.. I’m still on ep 2, and one of the main reasons I started watching was because of the strong FML. But…
I agree with you—I also hate when the ML is always shown as more powerful no matter how strong the FML is. But now that I think about it, I didn’t really notice that in LOTFG. For example, when the ML discovered she was the real General Feihong, their fight ended with him breaking the bridge between them to stop the fight, showing they were equally matched. And that other time when they fought without knowing each other’s identity while spying on the enemy, neither won or lost—they were so in sync that even their moves mirrored each other.

Even in the last war, when the ML was surrounded, it was the FML who executed the leader and saved him. She was also the one who came up with all the major strategies, including the final plan that took down the chancellor and her evil stepbrother, clearing the ML’s father’s name. To me, that really shows they were equals. The only two times the ML saved her were when she was distracted (thinking he had died) and when she was drowning due to past trauma—not because she was weaker.

And about Are You the One?—I get you 😅. I actually dropped it after episode 1 for the same reason. I didn’t like seeing her fooled by the ML and obsessed with him while he was deceiving her. But later it improved so much, and I ended up loving it. I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I did 😊

Hello.. I’m still on ep 2, and one of the main reasons I started watching was because of the strong FML. But…
Thank you for the recommendations! I actually love when the ML is just as powerful as the FML. For me, it’s the best when both of them can protect and support each other instead of one constantly saving the other. That’s why I loved The Legend of the Female General—such a great example of both being equally powerful. Like you said, Who Rules the World was amazing too (though I wasn’t a fan of the ending 😅). Another one I really enjoyed was Are You the One?—not as popular as the others, but it had a really strong FML and ML dynamic. I’ll definitely try out the other dramas you mentioned since I haven’t seen them yet. Hopefully they’ll distract me a little from finishing LOTFG… I still can’t move on 😭

Maybe I just have low expectations, and that’s why I was so easily satisfied—but honestly, for me this was the best drama of 2025 so far. I saw a lot of negative comments on MDL before starting it, and since I’d been waiting a long time for this drama, the low rating had me worried. But in the end, I was surprised—did I really watch the same drama as those reviewers? Because I loved every bit of it. I still can’t move on or even start another drama… it legit feels like a breakup.
From what I noticed, most of the negativity comes from two main things:
1. People who read the novel were upset that the drama didn’t stick to the original plot. Personally, I don’t think that’s a big deal—adaptations don’t always need to be exact.
2. Others didn’t like the female lead. They felt she didn’t have the aura of a general, and that she was too bubbly and feminine. But honestly, that’s what I loved! Usually strong female leads are shown as serious or less feminine, so seeing someone who was both strong and cheerful felt really refreshing.
Some also said the plot was too light for a war/action drama, but again—I didn’t feel that way at all. I never once felt bored; if anything, my eyes weren’t enough to take in everything happening on screen. And the last few episodes? I thought it was a bold choice, not “poor execution” like others said.
I’ve been watching Asian dramas and movies for more than 10 years, so I don’t think my judgment is poor. For me, this was a 10/10. Honestly, the only complaint I have is that I wish there were more kisses. 😅 If you’re thinking of watching it, ignore the negative comments and go for it. It’s so worth it.

strong female lead, subtle sweet romance! dk why the review ratings so low! Worth a watch!
Hello.. I’m still on ep 2, and one of the main reasons I started watching was because of the strong FML. But now, she seems weak and struggling with all the health problems she’s been through. Could you spoil me a bit and let me know if she regains her strength anytime soon?

Bong Su killed almost 100 person, if this isn't a definition of evil what would you consider evil?
No one’s defending him just because he looks “nice.” We all know his appearance isn’t what defines him. But you can’t blame people for pitying him. He was just a kid, forced to become a soldier, and ended up dying all alone, without his mother, which is why he became a ghost in the first place.
Yes, we saw him trying to hurt people here and there, but people like Yeom Hwa turned him into an evil spirit for their own advantage. It wasn’t his own choice. He was like an animal trained to kill. If he had met the right shaman, he might have gone to the afterlife much sooner. His actions were the result of humans’ evil intentions, used for selfish gains, which was shown clearly in the last few episodes.
Whenever he had control, he stayed good, never harming anyone, and even cared for the leads. That’s why people don’t hate him. We see him as a helpless soul—a kid who dreamed of going to school, having fun with other kids, and growing up normally, but was exploited by adults for their own selfish deeds.

If the drama hadn’t focused on his sad backstory and had only shown his evil side without his good side at all, people might see him as purely evil. But since we saw his POV, it’s clear he became an evil spirit because of selfish people and stayed good whenever he could. So I don’t understand why anyone is supposed to see him only as evil.

Well, if you read my comment, I clearly said we were only told about the evil things he did — we never actually saw him doing them. Did you see him kill even one person, let alone a 100? If they wanted us to see him as an evil spirit, they should’ve shown that side — including him killing people — instead of just calling him evil. I was actually blaming the drama for making him evil then not letting us see that evil side which made us feel bad for him in the end..They only label him as evil but then show us this fun-loving spirit who cares about the FML, suffered because of the bad shaman’s greed, lost his childhood, and only dreams of living a normal life, how are we supposed to see him as the villain?

I waited so long to watch this in one go because the moment I saw the trailer, I knew I’d love it. I saved it for the perfect time — and I was right. It didn’t disappoint me at all. I loved both the FML and ML, and the SML’s healthy attitude was so refreshing. His bond with the leads was amazing.

The romance was perfect — not a single boring moment. Every episode was great and kept getting more interesting.

But I do feel things got a little weaker in the latter part. Not boring, but the ending didn’t leave me 100% satisfied. Making Bongsu an “evil spirit” felt wrong when he was actually a good soul with a kind heart. We never saw an evil side — only someone trying to survive and be loved. Yet we were told to see him as evil.

When he crossed over, it was shown as something happy, but deep down, we knew how much he wanted to stay human. He might have even ended up in hell, just because he was labeled “evil.” I was heartbroken for him, even knowing he took over the ML’s body, because they made him “good” despite calling him “bad.”

Meanwhile, the real villain — the evil shaman Yeom Hwa — survived. I hated that the mother shaman had to die for her, leaving Seong A without her only family when she needed her most. And Seong A’s dream of going to college or even graduating never came true.

I know dramas can’t always be perfectly satisfying, but for me, the lack of a happier closure for Bongsu really left me feeling bittersweet.. Still, I enjoyed every minute overall and will truly miss them.
