Yes there were secrets and misunderstandings but from beginning to end this was one of the most wholesome, unproblematic, loving couples in Cdrama history. From beginning to end they were loyal to each other, of one heart one mind and Ji Bozai was the greenest of flags. Even his attempts at noble idiocy never lasted long enough to be mad at him for it.

I think he know her true identity and is just struggling badly with hiding it from her and is desperate to find a way not to have to tell her. he keeps asking because if there is no GMD then eventually he knows she will have to learn the truth about her origins and be hunted as the last living member of the Bo clan
