ive watched so many bad dramas this year, but this one managed to be one of the worst.
just goes to show you. To me it was a masterpiece about two abused and broken people who found love and healing in each other in a sea of dirty grimy people.
The ending made up for a lot for me. I didn’t feel butterflies throughout, even when he kissed her in the mid episodes because they didn’t really develop her side of the love story well. His I think was developed well enough but hers, they kept her too cold and unromantic for too long so that by the time she realizes she’s in love we’ve missed out on too many episodes that could have given us much more angst and butterflies. I agree with the people that said this one could have benefitted from more episodes. All in all this was a VERY nice binge watch with basically no filler and I don’t think I fast forwarded once. I LOVE that she got her staff back, even if it’s their reincarnation without their memories, it made me shed tears of happy. I would have liked to know how the king showed up in a perfect modern suit instead of his joseon clothes. But overall that was a very very happy ending for me.
One thing I’m confused about……. if the two countries were going to make peace and become allies anyway, why couldn’t they just have officially married Shuang as the now Dukes daughter to the Yao Prince. Wouldn’t this have solved issues instead of the convaluted way they both had to unperson themselves? I get that the show wanted to return DAD to just being Jin’an but still. either way I’m happy. already rewatching. it’s hard to leave my babies.
And with this performance Cheng Lei has just skyrocketed to the top 5 of my Cdrama best actors. His micro expressions, ability to convey so many different emotions within one scene and through the series…. this is a showcase that he took full advantage of and this will go on my list of drama’s I rewatch regularly.
Also, Song Yi is just ………. priceless. I love her so much.
I'm liking the second half of the show. The pace has finally picked up. I just wish they couldve done this from…
the ratings are low because Xu Kai anti-fans brigaded them before 99% of episodes had aired. The rating has nothing to do with the actual show. They rated all episodes a 6 or below after only 1 episode aired. Xu Kai has really toxic haters. With that said, I agree the pacing is much better now then it was earlier.
I love this show so much and I’m just sad it feels like the whole plot is speed run.
especially after re-watching 60 episodes of Ashes of Love again then coming back to this feels like the whole show is only a first chapter. I need so much more of these two and we are almost at the end 😭😭😭
