You actually put my thoughts while reading this comment section into words better than I ever could omg I also think although the arranged marriage might seem really forced and against her will (I mea on a surface level it is) but I don't think this is negative progression for her...girl never even thought this was an option in her brain like you said. Cannot wait to watch her slowly fall for him (although maybe the reactions of Jinqi's family should be taken into consideration, but I don't think it should be too big of a problem...the only other main head is his mum and she seems like a reasonable person so fingers crossed there are no unnecessary complications)

I wasn't a big fan of Tan Songyun before this but now I fear my opinions are changing rapidly Officially will become my drama of the year if it continues like this I'm not joking this is so damn good oh my days I'm whenever I think of the drama I act like I just drank a shot of espresso and am bouncing around waiting for the new eps. God forbid if they start milking the one eps a day schedule I will go bananas...this drama is lifting me through life rn Words cannot express the feelings I have for it and the joy I feel receiving new eps every day Can they just drop everything now like you can take everything, my money, my possessions, anything you want atp

It's just the main leads (in the novel) are both women, their relationship is to do with stolen identity and power struggles and NO romance involved. The romance is with Tian Xiwei and Wei Daxun's characters.

Roles aren't always allotted by seniority but in the eyes of many this is just a problem people like to pick out. Zhang Linghe gets high budget projects back to back now because of his immense popularity and success in the past few years like Story of Kunning Palace, Love between Fairy and Devil and of course the record breaking Pursuit of Jade this year. He now attracts way more attention and 'traffic' as well as investor interest so gets bigger projects. It's not because LYX is a woman, you don't see people asking that about Zhao Liying or Yang Zi now because they've convinced the Chinese media of their skill and experience. I agree every agency should try the best for their artists, and here you mention another key point of the controversy. ZLH and LYX are under the same agency, yet people have pointed out that LYX is receiving much better treatment and favouritism and being called Star Times' "princess". This suggests her industry backup here. Not sure why her role is getting dismissed by cnetz, but it is indeed what happened in the past few months. People only mentioned it recently when it comes to her because this project attracts major attention, and it's definitely not the first time some actor/actress has been pointed out for having this. Not sure about Liang Jie, anything could be happening in the background like good pay, more media attention etc. And I personally am not dismissing LYX's role as a result of connections, I am just stating that some do think this way. I agree, she should have the limelight now as she has already made it this far and plus she's my favourite right now and I love her characters. Yes, the entertainment industry is quite harsh and anyone could get replaced at any time which is a very valid point. I will also watch any drama for the story, screenplay and as entertainment as well as hoping to reduce unnecessary talks like you mention. Unfortunately it cannot be that perfect in the world we live in now. Personally I am stating these facts and not participating in any negative discussions. Yes, that is true. Main roles are some people's tool and support roles are others'. Not saying she hasn't earned this and not saying someone gave it to her on a platter, I'm just stating that she is lucky in the industry. Many do not have the good fortune to develop a career like hers.

Not denying she does have great filmography and talent but there is also no denying she has unnaturally good backup as well. There are so many actresses who have been working a lot longer than her, perhaps with equal amounts of potential, that have faded into the background. They might be there but we won't even know they exist. Revenge is a high budget S+ drama and having casted LYX who counts as a 'less experienced' actor in the grand scheme of things and over Liang Jie as well proved she has developed very impressive resources. One of the main controversial points of the hate the casting got was that Liang Jie was chosen as a supporting role while LYX is FL, and for many OG fans in China this really bothered the cnetz a lot. I've seen discussions agreeing that LJ deserves it more, she is 'prettier' and with 'better acting skills'. I personally don't agree with their constant arguing and putting down a woman to raise another one up, but it is true that as an actress along with her skills and talents, LYX does have exceptional backing in the industry as well.

I am loving this omg our master is so down bad. He was right in saying Lanxiang is clever and I really enjoy how she's always ahead of things. Our third sister Xiuru really needs some credit in this all; how she kept cool, stepped away and judged the situation levelheadedly (something many characters need to do in cdramas) That Du brother and sister duo both calculating I just really want them to leave. Like get out. You don't have a place here π Also love Nan Ke and Jiu Gao AH this drama is going soo good I hope it isn't dragged out like crazy since it's one of the longer ones but I'm having higher and higher expectations of this drama now I pray they don't make us wait too long for Part 2 when it comes
