Wow, what a beautiful story! I've been watching Korean dramas for a year and recently started with Korean BL dramas,…
Something I noticed is that Japan does the found family trope REALLY well. Just a couple of folks who've found their peace in other people, it's my favorite thing to watch after a long day (or year lol). I think you'd enjoy "Close-Knit" or "Papa and Daddy" if you haven't already watched them.

It broke my heart to see how Kana-chan was affected by her parent's divorce, even though it was the best choice for the couple. This 3 hour series covers a lot of important topics that are quite hard to explain, I hope everyone watches this at least once. I loved it.

Was just watched episode 13, had a smile whole time but the way she baked naan, made me a bit offended as an Indian,…
lol they did a similar thing in "What did you eat yesterday?" Honestly as a Korean, I'm a little concerned when Japanese people eat kimchi with cheese, but Imma just let it slide because I'm always an ally for the gays. lmao

My bad, it was Thai!

There's a movie on YT called "Fathers," I believe it was also Taiwanese but I'm not sure. I think you'll enjoy it.

Feels like a documentary more than a drama. Very realistic and heartwarming. Hope more Asian countries will following in Taiwan's footsteps so that everyone can live their truth <3

I will forever love the scene where you see that Nagisa is the one that fell for Shun. Usually with these character…
Same! I felt like I was Nagisa stealing glances on Shun-kun, kinda nervous and excited, as well as confused and scared. But now we know that Nagisa was gay this whole time. I'm glad they reconciled but the ending was very anticlimactic.

So it took 3 generations to finally be freed from society's and family's expectations huh? I wonder if Tsuyako would've chose differently if it weren't for her children. Also, shoutout to her husband for being an ally and a supporter.

The story was beautiful and I loved the scenery plus the meaning behind the plot but goddammit the kiss was so mechanical. I had to fight myself to keep my eyes on the screen. So mechanical and felt off. Why did Sakurai close his eyes first and just turn his head like that? I don't get it.

This drama was more about Hirokuni overcoming his toxic work environment after meeting Kai who slowly remind him…
THANK YOU! Also, I love what Japan is doing right now with their BLs. Maybe not even just atm, but seeing someone change (for the better) and truly come out of their shell is such a wonderful thing. I think everyone deserves a Kai, or even just something to live for. Could be in the form of a pet, a hobby, a job, a lover... I hate that there are comments bashing this series, maybe JBL isn't for them lol.

Wow, you are wildly projecting your fantasies onto this show. Hiro stood up Kai at the festival, he rarely makes…
That's kinda rude to say. Anyone can "project" whatever they wish onto FICTIONAL characters. That's the whole point of art...?Also, Hirokuni wasn't intentionally coming home late, he was stuck at work because he works at a black company... That's a very important part of his character. The fact that he's stuck at a miserable job because he's too afraid to quit. Not all relationships have to be feely-touchy to be considered "in love." Plus, I think the kiss scene was quite fitting for their relationship. Kai has confessed but he's hiding behind a joking aura, and Hiro likes Kai's company but isn't sure if he wants to be romantically involved with him. It would be out of character for them to suddenly have a strong sexual moment where they're groping and riding eachother. Y'all talking about the "dead fish" kiss are delusion, and that's a hill I'm willing to die on.

Kai deserves to have all the lovely things and blessings in the world.
Lowkey I was expecting the store owner to sell or give Kai his shop, so the legacy could continue. Maybe I was misinterpreting their relationship? They seemed very father-son to me but that phone call in episode 5 was COLD. Wishing for good thing to happen to Kai in episode 6, rent in Tokyo (or whichever inner city the drama is based on) ain't cheap!

Kai is green flags all the way 🥰🥹
And I love his hair! It reminds me of the ML from "Sing In Love" but in a good way. Healing from that drama year later haha

i agree with you 😊btw if you haven't read the manga, i recommend giving it a shotalso if you haven't watched…
Ofc there's a manga. I'm starting to realize that I should be doing, manga then drama for all of my shows haha. Feels like I'm prepping for 9th grade Language Arts but I'm not complaining. I love the extra dimension it gives, watching knowing all the background info.

do you have recommendations for other bl or queer mangas? I'm reading "She love to cook and she loved to eat" at the moment!

Almost coming to an end. Also I LOVE that they just spoiled the whole ending for episode 6 in the end hahah. Happy to know that there will be no tears :')

I had similar viewpoints but after reading some reviews and deep dives, I've come to realize that it isn't a fairytale…
Lol, that's fair. Though is it strange that I prefer these kinds of dramas? I'm enraged that we still have to deal with homophobia in 2024, but watching fictional characters live through their respective homophobic societies and backgrounds feels relatable and kinda comforting?
