I don't think she killed the mom over GT taking an interest in her daughter. I think GT's mom, which was the nanny/caretaker of the house, saw the way MY was being treated by her mom and tried to do something about it. That's why when she killed GT's mom, she said "Worry about your own child" or something along those lines. Or at least that's what I got from it.
