It reminds me of the male lead in Love Better Than Immortality, the idea that he is the strongest character in the story

I start because I saw the cheesy line of "you are mine" in twitter and I was like
"oh that drama had started, let's try it!" ,
it was a snippet and I was into their hair,

and now I am still working while thinking when can I watch it again.
too me by surprise, has no idea how it changes me

the things about miss the dragon and dylan wang for me is the style, the hair doesn't look good but also kind of on style with the drama, it just makes it hard

It's kind of the satisfying type,
you get why they like each other, you know they like each other, you like when they are with each other, you have evil laugh when you enjoy how powerful and evil the male lead can be,
the cgi does look low budget for me but the things is it doesn't actually matter since the imagery they want to put out is clear

personally, I feel like this is what I need and I am not actually quite a fan of ashes of love, it's good, I am just more into "love and redemption" and "love and destiny".
It has the rewatchability like Eternal Love for me

I also went it without an expectation, I kinda forgot what it is about despite heard about this drama previously,
I was like let's check 2 episodes and then bam, 8 episode and late deadline.

honestly, I've been enjoying this drama, I cave in and renew my iQiyi subs despite wanting to tone down my watching time.
I really want to contribute to the daily - weekly fangirl over this drama but I was so busy that the only thing I manage to do is watching it.

I never thought dylan wang can look this good. Esther was never my concern but dylan was questionable first time I hear about this, he was good even from episode 1

This drama makes me want to fall in love, have someone with me. The character in this drama can be the top in their field but the drama can convey how they are also relatable for the viewers. I like the way they look at each other and flirt, their flirting style really makes them one of a kind. Love a couple that can poke fun at each other.

people skill is not a game character when they can be divide equally in every part of their life, human feeling doesn't work like that.
She feels the years and memory, the relationship they've build for 10 years must mean something. It's not about independence but more because her life has been build around him too, she is his gf for 10 years, that is one of her identity and everyone knows that so ofc she will be hesitating. Relationship with people isn't the same as making decision between work when you can just go for your interest. There is the family, their memory, their youth.
Abandoning it can feels like she regrets her youth, her own life and past, her own feels and it even worse because everyone congratulate them in this relationship except for her. They met when she is lacking, she is young and up to now, people still think that she got the best luck.
The pressure she felt beside from the fiancee manipulating word is also because she had chose him for the past 10 years and all her memory in that years include him. Leaving that memory is hard.
I can say this because well, even without a toxic relationship, I've seen my friend, who is "strong" in their job can be very different in the relationship. There are feeling and years or memory that can't be erased.

Imo It is because he knew all about her, that drunken night shows her real self, bare to the bottom, how she can be clingy, sad, angry and she felt embarrassed that someone knows that much about her. She can't trust him not to tell anyone or not using it against her. It's her prejudice and defense mechanism because it's the 1st time she is so real in front of other people. She always shows more emotion with the male lead, annoy, sarcastic, challenging, gratitude, regretfulness and many more.
She is afraid of him because he has seen, unintentionally, and it's not his fault all of her thought, her reckless side and all her real emotion, how tortured her feelings.
This side contrast with how calm and collected he is in the other aspect of her life and she is afraid he'll slip up to say that she has a cute and reckless side or making misunderstanding. He understand her.

This is actually kind of real in the main core of the relationship, in the sense that, you stay with someone, agreeing with what they said about you because you've spent your youth together.
I've seen this in real life, people stay because of nostalgia but they don't realize that they've changed throughout the years and they didn't adapt to that.
The point of the Male lead is to show to the Female Lead how unmatched she is to her "fiancee". They aren't compatible from the start because as much as she has agency and independence in another area, she isn't herself in front of him anymore.

People can talk about cheating and stuff but this is just gray area and convenient at that. She has stressed in the beginning how there was this uneasy feeling and she was so disappointed and break up with him after seeing the picture. We've seen how the boyfriend act in front of her and makes her uneasy. She also doesn't have feelings for the male lead (yet) nor acts upon it.

The convenient part is that the male lead works with her so they are together most of the time. I felt that the relationship between FL and SML is long gone and it's also her fault to cling to it but to say that she is absolute trash for being confused isn't easy to me. I've seen this in real life, people get confused so I get her decisive and indesiciveness. My friend can talk for months about how they broke up with their long-time boyfriend, how much time and effort feel wasted, they can't even feel the good things even if they know it's time to move on. Feeling doesn't work that way.

His character gradually show that he has always have an eye on her, has his family dignity on his toes and want to be close with her. Then I get the part when he thought he get deceived by his friend, he also don't know how LQ and Baoning often meet in secret.
I think all of that just come to crash to him and make Baoning as his symbol of greatness. He makes her as a status symbol before his life was in dismay, the high point in his life was when he was about to be betrothed to her and don't see her as person that can actually has opinion.
It shown little by little and added perspective how we, as audience just see the surface of someone in the beginning, like if we talk in outsider pov, his fiancee was taken by a situational "forced" marriage and that pissed him off "justifiedly".
Also yes, we all want to collectively told him that she was never in love with him and he was never the best for her, so infuriating as character and he deserve a good slap, I don't want him to die, I want him to see that he isn't what he thought about.

This drama is great, not because everything is outstanding but I love the emotional payoff. The leads are great so far, the 2nd leads are infuriating and has been consumed by jealousy. It still half of the story, I have some faith that their big downfall will come later.
I like seeing the 2nd lead jealous because the couple is faithful, you know the couple actually loves each other. Idk what weird to me but when there is another scheme, I just hope the payoff is nice cause they got no chance.
The way the lead look at each other is so convincing and I love how the plotline of their romance for outsiders can be a complete madness and politic + situational contract when they thought both of them are forced out of their way for the marriage.

The plot in the middle is draggy,
The way the drama hides or making suspense is by stopping the revelation in the middle of the scene or hides what the character knew/found out from the viewer perspective. as example, the character will find out something and the scene will not shows it.
The ending is rather democratic that they don't have any stand on anything the show has presented as the main problem.
If you've analyzed the show with elimination technique and usually watch crime drama, you know who is the main culprit easily yet the drama try so hard to prove you wrong when it's so obvious. It makes the twist less good and less impactful because the drama just going around to make more mystery rather than taking the viewer more seriously.
I don't think the drama is complicated, I think the drama try to make scene more complicated by omitting certain information and timeline to confuse the viewer.
The character described as capable people but in the drama, if you paid attention, they just don't really good at their job but the drama makes them like geniuses.

I don't think it's bad but I also don't think it's that good. Too many convenient plot hole and the payback isn't actually satisfying. We've never seen the actual psychopath vs detective outsmart each other on their element since we've only seen Ba Reum act in the present time when he gets brain surgery. At the end, the drama emphasize about how the politician are bad and the citizen will vote for the bill, they are end in a status quo and back to the square one.
The plot in the middle is dragging and too many "revelation" is hidden/cut for the viewer to see just for shock or suspense while even in the early episode, it's easy to tell who the killer for the friend/chi kook, the last person that was with him should be the main suspect and actually get to be investigated yet the drama gloss over that and pretend that their main character is competent.

Totally love the way they help each other, there needs to be hard work and sacrifice but they are willing to do that. Especially when they started working and I agree that "behind every great man there's a great woman" is one perfect way to describe this drama
