You have some of same thoughts as I do about Mi Ran as a character. I do hope her comment about laying her life on line is not a foreshadowing of her character's end. She certainly is not evil like Se Ri and Gi Chan but she is blind to a bunch of issues.
She does not know how truly evil and ruthless Se Ri and Gi Chan are and that they are not her allies in any sense of the word. She is useful to them right now and that's it.
She does not understand Jae In or her relationship with her son at all. Jae In would never do anything to hurt her son. Jae In doesn't want to run the company while she would gladly work there as a designer or director. But, Gi Chan having the company is not something Jae In can tolerate.
Her son is just not mature enough right now to run the company but at any rate whatever agreement she thinks she has with Gi Chan to turn the chairmanship over to her and her son will not happen.
