First, I am commenting on the matter of "BCE is the #1 Urban drama of 2024 so far this year with 1.7B views in 3 months since airing.". I read somewhere that title was awarded by MaoYan based on MaoYan Heatindex. Thus, I want to elaborate on the "heat" aspect.

In term of view, BCE has 1.7B includes not only view on TV (about 7 time broadcast on various station) but also view on internet broadcast platform. Drama that is broadcast on CCTV (CCTV 1 for example) always have very high rating since those stations are the most popular national TV channels. Particularlly for CCTV1, then CCTV8. Many people take rating is the ultimate criteria to judge the success for a drama which broadcast on TV. But TV audience is just a part of overall audience. a serious, authentic website audience should be equal to a TV audience in my opinion. Nowadays, how many people watch TV. Most of young people watch drama on their phone, their PC/laptop. The problem with internet view data is the way to track view or interaction is not effective enough to filter such spam. If the tool is good enough, internet view shoud be treated equal with TV view and the rating should include website drama too.
Moreover, the broadcast view abroad should be included in their calculation since some dramas and some actors have large fan base oversea. XK is an example. Many of his drama were considered as flop in China but loved oversea (FIYS, Ancient love Poetry, Wonderland of Love)
And honestly, I don't care such heat index which is hugely manupulated by fans. Positive or negative discussion both drive the heat index up.
