I don't know if I would suggest you to read the novel before watching the drama. The novel covers their whole life until their death (at very old age, with more than 50 years of marriage). It illustrates Han Ting's concept of love. For him, love can only be conclueded at the end of their life. Marrying is not big issue for them. They got married quite short time after reunion. They worked in the same company and supported each other at work and in life. They had 3 smart sons. The first one was born ~ 3 year after their wedding. No one had to sacrify his/her career for family or vice versa. He was super busy CEO but he was also a responsible husband and father. They dealed with their crisis at work and at home together. They were too rich so they did not have to deal with domestic matters such as cooking or cleaning as you saw in many drama.
Xu Kai once said Han Ting was a perfect guy.
