No, the bow was originally designed for a person with low spiritual power. And the size is suitable for Xiao Yao’s height and arm length. It was not aimed for Xang Liu.
He went to the blacksmith Xing Shen to order the bow right after the bug transfer to himself. Thus he understood that WXL also loved him. He wanted to help WXL to turn his 3 NOs (can't protect myself, no one to rely and no where to go) into 3 YES. It shows that XL had planned to teach WXL/XY archery from early time, even before she turned into princess of Hao Ling and refused him.

No, in the drama, XL went to meet the blacksmith during the QS town era, right after the successful transfer of the Lovers'bug from Cang Xuan to him (episode 11 if I remember correctly). The blacksmith told him that it would take 35 years to complete the job. This is different from the novel. The text in the novel implied that the bow was just completed and it took 35 years to make it. This event happened a few month after Xiao Yao returned to Shen Nong after 37 year under the sea. Therefore, XL started comissioning the bow about 2 years after the Merlin assasination (meaning 2 years she was in the shell at the sea bed).

"Xing Shen laughed out loud “I’m going back to think about it. When the weapon is ready I’ll contact you. Fast is ten to twenty years, slow might be a hundred years. So don’t think too much about it!”

Strangely a month later, Xing Shen came to find Xiao Yao and said “Your people killing bow is almost ready.”

Since the drama is coming soon, from my own experience, I suggest you who haven't read the novel yet NOT TO READ the novel before watching the drama. There is change in their first encounter. Furthermore, due to censorship, some romantic scenes in the novel were definitely changed too. Just enjoy the drama as an independent work. In the end if you are still interested in their story and want to understand them more, you can go back to read the novel. This way can help you enjoy and appreciate both works

I read a note from a facebook page of this drama whose author said she read the leaked script. She said that Han Ting and Ji Xing met each other at first year of undergradate in a technical competion. Probably he had a crush on her but they are not first love of each other. He then left China for Germany suddently and returned after 10 years. They are 28, 29 years old in the drama
She said that the rest of the script is quite close to the novel
