I'm not too fond of you watching my subs on some site, but yeah, I'm the one doing the subs for this show. Check the popular/related lists for this drama (https://kisskh.at/list/71gqgJK3) if you want to grab my subs straight from the source instead of going through some thievish streaming site. ;)
I'm feeling a bit disappointed by the last episodes (85-95). Secondary characters are just pushed aside. What…
I think that's more of a testament to the great world-building that's happening here. There are so many rich and deep side-characters who could lead their own dramas or even their own morning dramas, which I believe is very rare nowadays. You have to accept that we only get to see glimpses of them and that their lives go on without us seeing it. It's a slice of life about Mone. You can't really ask to cut it down into even smaller slices. That way, you'd get a watered-down story that covers everything and nothing.
I also don't feel like any of the stories you mentioned were abandoned. Michi's goals will take decades to achieve and she knows it. Mitsuo's journey in his mind has been explored well enough in every scene he's been on screen with some big key moments. Ryo and his father both had their big breakthrough moments after a long journey, mentally. We're probably going to see the results of that in the final arc. Udagawa-san is slowly making progress thanks to the livelier sharehouse and Natsu is certainly more hopeful than ever, but everyone knows that he won't suddenly become better overnight. What seem like small steps from the outside are huge mountains to climb for him.
You are right, very good new episodes! I can't really get Mishi's character so far. Does she really want to stay…
Her character, motivation, and feelings are beautifully complex yet simple, which is pretty much Adachi Naoko's entire MO and true for most if not all of the characters in this show. Simply a great writer.
I think most of the word of mouth happens on social media, especially for jdramas. Only a small amount of them get reviews here and it's usually heavily dependent on the actors and genre, I feel like. Probably because it's harder to watch jdramas. There's a reason why people still use those sketchy streaming sites. There's plenty of good sites for Japanese reviews, though.
I usually just stay in the know via the news and teasers and watch stuff based on the PR material and who is writing the script. I never care about reviews, in fact, I ignore them as much as I can in order to have a fresh and novel experience. I usually check them after the fact to see other people's opinions. I like to go into movies, shows, books, etc. mostly blind.
- "If reviews didn't exist, no one would watch it." I see people talking about dramas and downloading subtitles without there being reviews all the time. The jdrama community is pretty small and only a small portion of that already small group is active on MDL. It's the last place I'd check to see if a drama is good and/or popular. That being said, I certainly have more options given the fact that I know Japanese. It's a shame that decent discussions and reviews are scarce among English speaking viewers.
Trigger warnings in terms of tags, genres or whatever is definitely helpful, I agree.
Anyway, I like this discussion, even though it's completely off-topic. :)
Fair enough. Although I doubt any subber would work on something that is subpar to them personally, at least not in the fansub community. Sure, other people might consider it subpar, but nobody works for fun with no reward if they don't like it.
My advise in general: Do not decide on what to watch, play, read or whatever based on reviews, period. Don't let other people's opinions skew your own. Even if you think it doesn't, it does. You'll discover so many more things that way. :)
All done. It was a fun and timely drama with an intriguing main plot in addition to the procedural case-of-the-week episodes, and some solid performances (and one not so solid).
If you've watched it with my subs, thanks. If you've watched it with my actual softsubs and not on some streaming site, thank you very much.
It's six episodes in total. Never trust the episode count on MDL. I pushed an edit and I hope it will get approved…
I suppose so, yeah. At least it's the first drama where romance is the main genre. I'm bored by most of the romance shows, but this one seemed rather fresh, albeit still hackneyed at times.

And asking the subber is kinda weird, because why would I sub something I don't like? ;)
If you've watched it with my subs, thanks.

I don't think there's an MDL entry for the special, so I'm letting you know here.
