Gaslighted
We were GASLIT. Tell me why you would make your FL obsessed withe ML and have the ML show his feelings for her through his actions throughout the entire show for it to end without a even a HFN!The secondary couple, who, BTW came out of NOWHERE gets to have a HEA and the main leads get NOTHING!
I was absolutely blindsided by this show, every week waiting with bated breadth, thinking this is the week they'll kiss or say how they feel about each other.... how naive was I.
It hurts because everything else about this show was literally PERFECT.
I really feel that this has to have a second season the way this ended... like... I am not okay after this :/

Don’t let the criticisms stop you from watching this!!!
This was the first show I’ve seen with Song Yi and Ryan Cheng. I was debating watching this as I had seen so much discourse over the FL not being good enough, young enough or not having chemistry with Ryan Cheng and of course, not being anywhere near as good as The Legend of the Female General.I’m starting to think I was watching a different show to those people because Shadow Love was such a treat to watch; the layered personalities, character development and the emotions that both actors displayed in this show was just wonderful to watch.
This show had me in awe, broke me down and built me back up again. The range of emotions I went through while watching SL was insane. I was glued to my TV any chance I got to watch this. Was it a perfect show? no, but it was close to perfection for me and that’s because of Song Yi and Ryan Chen’s phenomenal acting.
I was sad to see it end, but it ended so beautifully. SL will definitely be up in my top 10 Cdramas!

Okay if you’ve nothing else to watch
I watched this in between shows. I think this would be a good palette cleanser if you’ve watched something heavy or if you’re in a slump.This story was a bit too hard to believe; I felt like I had to leave my brain at “the door” before watching it.
I found the ML Lee Min-ki to be off putting; between the dead, soulless eyes and the stiff, almost sociopathic acting, nearly made me dump the show more than once.
it had its funny moments and I will say that episode 10 caught me off guard and made my sob like a baby. there was some great acting from both the FL Seo Hyundai-jin and the mother Kim Hee-jung.
Overall, not a great show but something to pass the time!

Screaming, crying, throwing up
This show had me **hooked** and **captivated** all **from the very first episode**! I am saying this as someone who is notoriously hard to please.Who knew a modern day female Michelin Chef who time travels back 500 years to the Joeson dynasty era would be a great idea to adapt to the screen??
The FL and ML have some of the **best tension and aggressiveness that I have seen in a kdrama in years**; they are electric together and their tit for tat relationship is just ✨chef’s kiss ✨
