Yea, now I hope they get casted in a family drama similar to Go ahead or the Reply series of Korea.

Title The Starry Love Spoiler
To be honest, I was quite frustrated at the ending. It could have been better. I wouldn't mind crying for nothing…
I kinda understand what you mean. It seems that the director likes to keep that direction too. Same as the death scene of YQ in ep12. I think it's the saddest yet most beautiful (i.e. the best) death scene I have ever seen (hope it does not sound so weird). The way his eyes open yet show no sign of life. In an interview, CXX also mentioned that he got lots of praise from the director, who stated that it was the best scene he'd done up to that point.

LOL i am curious about what CF said to YQ. The chemistry of the cast is just oozing.

Youqin's pep talk to Yetan surrounded by stars is so touching..makes you realise how he's being patient and tolerant…
I also appreciate YQ's empathetic trait displayed already in the early eps although he was in the seclusion for more than a century (another unrealistic yet applauded part besides the sisterhood :D)
I guess Chaofeng's acts are built to make up for all the other unrealistic ideas in the show lol

To be honest, I was quite frustrated at the ending. It could have been better. I wouldn't mind crying for nothing as long as we can see a happy re-union. I also like that they did not overdo with the death scenes. They know that we know all kinds of magics can happen later, so why making a big fuss about that. Those scenes are still impactful to me though. Those soft, heart-broken lines works even better than heavy crying or screaming, or a long mourning period in my opinion. But you absolutely have a point that the open ending is consistent with the flow of the story. It gives hope and does not follow the common trope. The director does respect the audience in this regard.

Can anyone recommend other Chinese costume dramas with no pitiful loyal second male lead get heartbroken because…
Is Xianxia genre considered costume drama? If so, Love between Fairy and Devil, Eternal love(2017) would fall into your description. They are one of the best xianxia dramas besides TSL in my opinion.
For non-fantasy costume drama, I’d recommend The story of Minglan, there is a SML who gets heart broken but he moves on later and quite supportive.

Yes, I also like that many characters are empathetic. Some may argue that the sisterhood part is unrealistic. But if that is the common case, we indeed need more shows like this which showcase how compassion and love can be born out of harsh situations.

Their emotions are just so raw and authentic and they delivered it exceptionally
I am with you. They are so talented. Apart from how genuine and proper reaction that they deliver in these situation, these responses are very distinctive. At the scene that YQ said ‘what are you doing’ when she pushed him, other actors tend to shout/scream in a surprising and angry mode, but CXX’s tone in that scene was a mix of surprised, understanding, endearing, and sorrow. It is soft yet painstaking. And same for LLD in the crying scene you brought up. What we tend to see in the other show is heavy crying when they part way, but here she really adjusts her comfort to his baby response and also in line with her strong and upbeat character. Their acting are soft yet powerful and captivating. It’s also rare for me to feel and observe these. So yes again, they are super talented.❤️

Same here. I managed to persuade my partner to rewatch it with me. How I wish i can use the antic object of the Heavenly Emperor to erase my memory of the show so I can enjoy it to tge fullest again 😅

Yep yep bestie to lover is a good formula for a long-lasting relationship ❤️

They gave me the bestie vibe in real life, or maybe they are just playing their own games like WR and YT, trying hard to not fall in love with the other hahaha. But yea they seem to be their own self around each other, and the director seems like a big easy going bro 😆 who makes the mood on set light and fun

For me when YT needed to make 3 shards fall in love with her, it’s more like the chase than the angst. It was full of excitements and emotions. Where to find them? The guys can ask Lan Jue to find their partners using their, ehem, footwears maybe 😂

True. Also, it’s fortunate that the waiting time in this story is much shorter than that in other xianxia shows
