1. Yuan brothers are human, and there's a human vs. Demon war going on right at that time. Pretending to be Green Ape Demons, they want enemy information, and to steal their greatest weapon, the Star Stone.
2. Yuan Wuhuo (as human) is dead, but since the butterfly brothers "ate" his memories and body, they only look like him, and has his memories, but both guys don't have his personality/soul. Like you are still you, but you have someone else's memories inside you. Li Jie has nothing, but I suspect he's still a butterfly demon but he doesnt know.
3. Yuan Xizai (human) is dead, but it seems like Real Chiwen helped them somehow. Blind Fox demon likely took Yuan Xizai's face since he was there during the explosion.
4. We don't know this yet, but fake Jiling spent decades at Shilin Sect with human Yuan Wuhuo. So I think Yuan Wuhuo is at Shilin because he promised Real Chiwen to protect Jiling, and some unknown connection from Jiling to his brother, Yuan Xizai.

They needed 10 dragon because they used all their 9 bodies to seal Jiu Ying, but Jiuying was sneaky and was able to split off 81 spirit fragments before being sealed. They need someone who can protect the world since they're all gone, help find and destroy the fragments, and some day truly kill Jiu Ying.

I love Cheng Yi and the character Wangquan Fugui, and I was IN LOVE with the drama, especially after the part he faced the 10k swords through his body for Qingtong. THEN THE SHOW WENT DOWNHILL and Wangquan Fugui disappeared, the drama didnt even finish the love story. Such disappointment.

it just felt like a completely different story after episode 13. I had such high hopes for it, it was looking to be one of my favorite dramas and BOOM! just downhill and never stopped rolling downhill.

For green apes, the brother that matters is Wu Zhiqi.
Butterfly demons are twin brothers that work for Jiu Ying.
Yuan brothers are Yuan Wuhuo & Yuan Xizai.

-1000 years ago, Wu Zhiqi wanted the star stone, hearing the rumors that it is powerful enough to heal illnesses and his green ape brother who is very ill.
-150 years ago, Wu Zhiqi's brother was killed by humans, and it started a whole human/demon war. It ended when the star stone (as TianDi) exploded and wiped everyone out.
-50 years ago, its revealed that some of the green ape tribe demons survived the explosion, but are plagued with horrendous illnesses, so Wu Zhiqi had used Petrification skill to turn them into stone, but they were still suffering endlessly and he wants the stone to undo the spell.

Yuan brothers timeline:
-150 years ago, two human brothers pretend to be Green ape demons to sneak close to Wu Zhiqi to steal the star stone, which they then find out is an explosive weapon. It's presumed the exploson kills Yuan Xizai, and Yuan Wuhuo survives.

Butterfly brothers timeline:
-150 years ago, to steal the star stone (as TianDi) as a weapon to wipe out humans & demons. The 6 Eyed Butterfly Demon is a set of Twin Brothers. They are working for Jiu Ying.

-Sometime after the 10th dragon is born and Chiwen has sealed Jiu Ying's true body, Jiu Ying is looking for the 10th dragon, and Jiu Ying is planting spies. Human Yuan Wuhuo who has survived the explosion is now part of Shilin Sect, as demon hunter and commander. He oversees JiLing (as fake Chiwen) grow up, train, and he ages to old age at the sect. He goes to find a cave to die in, but JY wanting to steal his memories of Shilin Sect & Chiwen, send the Butterfly Twins to absorb his body and memories. Two bodies come out, Li Jie first, without memories except that he must go find his brother (looks like Jiling/Chiwen) at Shilin Sect. Yuan Wuhuo comes out as Evil Yuan Wuhuo, retains his memories, working for Jiu Ying, and has butterfly demon powers.

1 ep a day is fine since it's been so popular. They make more money out of the show, the artists get more attention and fame, more promotions, better future for all involved.

That is, if it all ends well. Don't fall apart like Sword & Beloved!

That's sad. The most enjoyable part of the drama has been how unpredictable it is and the theories and discussions here

Heart in these dramas usually means soul or identity. We don't know the connection between DI Zhu and LWY yet. But in some stories reincarnated people are the same, especially if they recall memories. But from Xiaowei story, it told us that while Xiaowei thinking it's all the same person, to each person that don't remember him, it means nothing, they're strangers.
So yes memories matter. Why LWY always asking if Chiwen is Jiling. Since he remembers.

You cut yourself off from the Moonless Sect and go on the run. They cannot recall you monthly with the moon. But you'll lose a sense, and if you use your powers you will be hunted by the curse

Nah the spirit fragments don't have any JY poeers just whoever it possesses. I think they knew so thats why made it Fake Chiwen/Shilin Sect mission to find and kill 81 of them.

Not 81 heads, just 81 fragments of JY evil spirit.

9 head, each can split 9 spirits = 81 spirits fragments.

The actual heads are sealed by the dragon sons.

My ideal ending is two happy foxes living near a sweet raspberry patch together, surrounded by flowers. And a dragon diety and his wife raising a family at Shilin Sect.
