It's unclear the exact mission, just mentioned he wasn't "born" with one, whereas other AGs have specifics like Qing Ye whom had earth powers and making landscapes and helping land Gods. They all knew XZ's purpose was basically protect all 3 realms, with his specialty on creating formations, and he was able to use that to create the xutian abyss, etc.
The destroying Extranatural realm part is more so foreshadowed by the fact he was the "last born" and no others came after him. Only until the very end do they figure out the reason why no more were "born" anymore because the world no longer needed Ancient Gods, thus "freed" XZ, but also had caused him to so many thousands of years of loneliness and depression after he became "orphaned" and alone. Very sad, but without that we wouldn't have had such a good love story :)

I would recommend it - it reads almost EXACTLY like the drama. Since you've seen it, you can picture it better in your head, and also the stuff about Mofang & Furong jun won't be censored. It's short; just 81 chapters and each chapter isn't wordy/lengthy and translations are very good (I'm comparing to a lot of other cnovel translations that are...how do I put it.. too try-hard and "literal" rather than helping readers understand).
I was able to read it twice in a week, and also listened to the mandarin audiobook as well.

No idea about that, theres no confirmation where exactly he was born, just that FS carried him away during the last war. In the novel it's only mentioned he's the son of Liuming and grew up with FS, but hes definitely no part chimei, so I would assume his mother is a regular woman that followed Liuming before he went nuts.

His mother is never mentioned, but hes not half chimei. Liuming is not a chimei, just the creator of them. Mofang only has the resurrection powers because of FuSheng (a chimei) giving him his heart's blood throughout his life.
