Her friends were the only actors that felt solid to me. I enjoyed their scenes, but even they weren't enough to save this... Why did they make her dance?! She was good for an average person or for a night club, but for an exceptionally choosy school? No.
I saw the first ep, and it's like a Youtube fanvideo. NO JOKE. I thought that it would actually be like a TV show, but no such luck. Acting, script, characters... lordy, I didn't expect it.
This is so incredibly sexist. You're saying it's fine to like male characters who may or may not be written well…
I'm not saying people can't do it. I'm saying that kdramas in particular are aimed toward that demographic, and a lot of extreme people. If you couldn't understand that point, then I am sorry. But I am NOT sorry for what I said. The truth hurts. Not everyone is going to look critically at every single drama character. You cannot change everyone or make them how you want them to be. That's why there are plenty of dramas to go around. Sorry if this post is somehow "demeaning" you.
Okay guys, so I haven't watched Reply 1997, but I watched bits and pieces of it when it was airing. Watched the…
Let me just say, watch 1997. It is far superior to 1994. 1994 COULD have been better, but the writers mistakenly thought that what everyone liked from 1997 was the romance mystery, and not the character dynamics and took it 10x too far. So, definitely watch 1997 first. 1994 is too exhausting...(Even k-netizens are complaining about it.)
More than a bit disturbed by all the people that actually LOVED Young-do's character. Won't put this under spoler alert because people deserve to know: he is an abusive character. People were loving him from the first episode. Hope they don't end up in a relationship with a guy like him. Romanticizing that kind of person isn't okay. :/ Feel bad for people that would tolerate it...
Master's Sun and Gu Family Book... really, people?! Those two belong in the same category as Heirs as the year's…
Master's Sun was pretty good. The end was a little odd (episode extension), but it was solid and interesting throughout. Episodic does not equal lame. Now Heirs was a mess. Super abusive stuff goin' on in there.

Honestly, what I took out of the article was that writers totally screw up female leads. Mok Dan was this awesome, kick @ss female lead, and then what? She just became a nuisance. (And the actress wasn't great).
Writers often take away pre-established qualifications to make room for a man. And that's not cool. Add to that, if the actress isn't particularly well-rounded (for me, tht's Park Shin Hye) the character can turn into a mess. *coughEunSangcough*
Guys DO have it easier. Young-Do in Heirs was despicable. I found nothing to like in his character. If he had been a female, he wouldn't have made it. You're completely correct, but also naive. It's really the mindset of the viewers that lets people get away with this stuff.
Personally, I'm really liking Cheon Song Yi from You Who Came from the Stars because they aren't trying to trick us with who she is and isn't. She is who she is.
Ugh. I'm not the type to fall for an abusive character just because of the actor, so I can safely say that I did NOT like Young Do to the end. The writing for him was HORRIBLE. And Kim Tan, too.... waste of the actor's. "Let's have these guys fight over her like she's a piece of meat while one of them abuses her because of his love!" No thank you. It had potential, but that was a major turn-off for me.
YYS was the best breakout star for me. I didn't even recognize him as the same guy from A Werewolf Boy! And yet he stole everyone's heart with a role that would otherwise not have been as popular. Just amazing. Team CB to the end! (not for Na Jung, but for the character ;) )
