I know the mom is pitiful and all, but I reaaallllyyyy disliked her in the first episode. The grandma wasn't great either, but the mom just.... irked me. :/
K-dramas get pretty boring for me. They tend to do only focus on the romance aspect, forgetting the real plot. However, if I just wanna watch a romance for the sake of a romance, kdramas are where I turn to. :)
J-dramas, for me, have more meaning in them. The country of Japan, it seems, is more ready to explore deeper subjects, including homosexuality, and the flaws in their own culture. (I particularly love Namae o Nakushita Megami!) I don't think Korea is quite ready for that.
Also, I think the best japanese romances are in the anime department. One of my favorites is CLANNAD. It has become one the most popular anime romances to date - And not once do the main couple kiss! It gets you so wrapped up in the actual STORY that you don't need to depend on kisses to show that they love each other. It's that good. ;)
I LOVED I'm a Cyborg But That's OK. I'm still trying to find the mood and timing to watch The Crucible (or SILENCED) though. :/ I think I'll try Taipei Exchanges though
I would say definitely not FMA. It would be fine if made into a jmovie like Rurouni Kenshin, but not a drama. They would need an extensive amount of money to make that a reality, and it would work best as maybe a series of movies.
