Watching Deok Im going through all kind of internal conflicts these past ep, and how Seyoung manages to subtly…
I know she is destined to die young but seeing how the drama portrays her so far, she didnt live her life worthlessly. She helped and touched many people although she has no political power and was so well loved by the king. This will be a comfort for me ☺️
Watching Deok Im going through all kind of internal conflicts these past ep, and how Seyoung manages to subtly portray it beautifully through microexpressions especially her eyes. I can understand why Junho, as a costar whos seeing this bts, wants her to receive Daesang. 😭 i heard some complaints about how her acting didnt meet his intensity in the earlier eps, but they have to rmb that Deok is a rational and level-headed. Since that fruit scene, their scenes have been so wonderful acted and they complement each other so well. My heart aches for them both. I love the chase and the angst . I really want to see her as Ui-bin soon tho . The crew really doing a good job of hiding her lol . We see some pics of Junho in red robe but nothing of Seyoung 🤣
Am i the only surprised by Deok Im hugging San back? I understand San’s reaction because it just makes him love…
Right? If it made me feel surprised and confused, then they didn’t do a good job of transitioning or building up to the moment of that hug. Still I love it so much!! This is why i hope they edit our couple scene more seamlessly. These scenes keep being placed at the end of the ep and I’m always left more confused. I still interpret her unrestrained hug as gratefulness for him protecting her in front of the king but who knows? Will they unpack this and the other library scene? i hope they digress her inner thoughts in the next ep
Am i the only surprised by Deok Im hugging San back? I understand San’s reaction because it just makes him love…
Ahh okay that’d make more sense. It was more of relief on her part that regardless of the manipulation on court lady Jo part for them to come across each other in the library , their meeting was already fated anyways.
What seemed like a fated meeting turned out to be set up for her to be his concubine, I would feel so offended too. But I’m glad Deok Im found out she already met him and and her sigh and hug now seemed more like a relief
Am i the only surprised by Deok Im hugging San back? I understand San’s reaction because it just makes him love even more but I dont remember young San leaving that much impression in her childhood? Also, wasnt she refusing him in the last ep? I’d like think this mutual hug was because they’re glad to have meet an old friend not because she was reciprocating his feelings I wonder if she will come to her senses at the beginning of the next ep.
I feel like the court lady part was draggy and too much, luckily there was a hug at the ending so I will forgive…
Same. The whole part was like 1/4 of the ep and it was soooo unnecessarily draggy. I found the meeting scene riveting but lost all my interest after the reveal that one of Court Lady Jo's motivation was jealousy.
On the other hand, I wish they edited our OTP scenes more seamlessly. For some reason, I noticed it in the last ep too. They need to stop putting their scenes in the last few min of the ep.
Am i the only one that wasn’t concerned about that neck brush or “grab”? Wasnt he distracted during his tutoring time in the beginning because he was recalling the image of her neck during that bath incident? U know could be his thirst or subconsciousness lol
His outburst at her and cornering her before that is what I had an issue with
My goodness, Deok Im is such an amazing character. I love both leads but she is shining in this story, and Lee…
Yess!! Although I do enjoy Junho’s acting a lillllll bit more (who doesnt love angsty and angry prince lol) he still has a lot of growth and realization to do. Deok Im is clearly my fav character in the show!!
OMGGGG what a great way to get out of my drama-slump. Big fan of Lee Se Young and JunHo and I'm so happy they're getting so much recognition for their performance and not because they are buzzworthy, even though they have impressed me already before. Producers, directors, writers, this is the outcome when you cast talent! Now, I don't even care for the potential tragic ending if they choose to end it a certain way. I'm just excited for them to act their hearts out and give me more beautiful pain :P
One thing I'm concerned about tho....I do hope they keep some of their light banter and rapport as the drama goes on , because it reminds me that they are really each other's equals instead of a servant-master relationship. For ex, Deok Im is not afraid to put CP in his place when he says something wrong ( lash out on a powerless court lady, not apologizing for his tricks) instead of bowing and saying "Ye-ye, I'm sorry". I hope she doesn't lose her firmness, but keep standing her ground even after getting together with him unlike other FL when they fall in love. The highlight of their relationship is when they treat each other as equal. She sees and treats him as if he's still a "CP's teacher" and him caring about what's in her heart even though she's only court lady whose feeling does not matter. Don't disappoint me drama!
What a well made and in-depth review. I really hate how vague the comment sections are, especially the more negative…
Just take a look at the comment section for Squid Games and compare it to dramas like DOTS and you see why LOL.I have watched all kind of kdramas for two decades so I've seen this type of genre of psychological thriller/survival game: Liar Game, Save me, Strangers from Hell, Alice in Wonderland, Sweet Home, Kingdom, etc.. you name it , and I'm STILL blown away by Squid Game. Yes, it has many similar elements, which in my opinion, is great to keep you hook constantly but Squid Game just hits differently. It boldly tackles different social issues without being too preachy. I don't understand why people are complaining about a KOREAN DRAMA being worldwide phenomenon and being overhyped. If anything, they should be celebrating that achievement.. Are there better dramas out there that deserve the same glory? Yes, but people should not be putting Squid game down because their favorite drama is not getting the same recognition. I prefer drama like Squid Game having that recognition than something like Goblin, CLOY, and DOTS.
When will a NORMAL drama with NORMAL characters and healthy relationships become the norm instead of the exception?
Argh when characters behave and think cleverly like how they're supposed to be, in high-ranking noble/aristocratic positions...what a gem this is! Highly recommended
Im on ep 18 but does LNS become less emotional as the series goes on? He's said that protecting the country with his life is his dream so he should know what sacrifice is required. I know that comrades die during mission, its a given, but it's hard to watch a spy thriller with an emotional lead who can't keep his composure when something goes wrong
". I thought this was going to be a drama about students and young adults pursuing their passions in music. Instead…
You're not exaggerating. You described perfectly in detailed what is wrong/missing in this drama. I have a huge problem with everyone's behaviors in this drama, which was the most exaggerated thing here. Everyone behaves like they're in high school including the adults, then you question wth is the writer thinking, just trying to piss the audience off instead of making us understanding and empathizing with the characters. But oh well, the drama is great as long as we get one ep of happy ending, one ep of them playing together (which supposed to be the things we all looked forward too but instead the whole thing felt dry) forget whatever else happened right? ;)
Little reminder that making every character depressed doesn't make a drama "realistic". It just makes a drama…
Yes, there's a fine line between realistic/raw (which is subtle) and agony/depression, which the writer & PD take it to a new level lol. But anyways, 25 min of happily ever after is what matters right? ;)
Wait for the series to end, then wait for its message. Didn't My Mister give the message in the final episode? In…
If you want to see my criticism, scroll down. I discussed some of my issues I had with this drama. Other people already pointed out other issues so I dont think I need to reiterate again or else people will say I just want to hate on it. I made the comparison because people are claiming those dropped it couldn't handle the "realistic" and "true to life" things happening here (the breakup, misunderstanding, coincidences etc). It's not realism. It's makjang. And no, My Mister was clear about its essential message throughout the drama (not at the end), and it provided a really beautiful picture of the characters tearing at that message. I understand there will be people defending their love for this drama, because they only care about the main couple, screw storyline. If I were to bring up one criticism here, everyone is exactly how they were at the beginning. No development. But I guess we will have time skip and their and growth development will happen offscreen, which is my number one pet peeve.
Lol i heard of this in another drama so i recognized what she’s talking about in the preview right away
