Out of the Box
I really liked this special episode. I tried my best to avoid spoilers pre release on iQIYI and watching it I liked that it wasn’t like your typical special episode.
It was an episode just about the length of a standard movie and the quality of production and the story was up to par with previous episodes. One critique of this though I’d say is that if we were going to wait so long for this we should’ve gotten a special YinWar song for this episode. I am unsure of their budget though so I won’t speak much on that because this is out of their pockets.
I liked that unlike normal special episodes this wasn’t fluff and full of happy moments. We still got great acting and action out of the cast. I was also happy to see a little more romance with MarkProm even though I was expecting more. I am still confused on Bonz and Took though.
I was left on the edge of my seat with Joke getting shot and seeing Yin as Jack act out the stages of grief really showed off his acting. I am also very excited that Joke isn’t dead and that we will get hopefully another season. Even if it takes a while I am willing to wait so we can get the ending we deserve. I applaud YinWar for going against the grain with Thai BL and for not being afraid to not give us a happy ending. Though that is what I want I feel like at least for now there is a bigger picture and they are choosing art over what makes people happy and I’m here for the ride.
