I don't know about that. I just know that in the novel, the emperor genuinely favors the crown prince. Grandma, aka Empress Dowager, is the one who poisons ML to take revenge on the emperor. But again, I don't know if they are keeping that plot in the drama.

He's not. From what I read, his dad was a prince. That prince was the emperor's brother and ED's son too. So ML and Emperor are uncle and nephew. His grandma is still his grandma; he's still royal bloodline. The emperor adopted him when he was little because his dad died. I don't know if they're going to keep that plot in the drama, though. But that's what novel readers explained in a comment when the drama initially aired.

People actually want to watch and discuss the drama in peace without scrolling through essays. If you not where to discuss about characters, the plot etc.. but only about the age gap. There’s no point …really. The show is already filmed, passed Chinese censorship, and is airing. Their main audience/target is in China, not the West. As long as it meets their own standards, they don’t care. If you want to complain, take it to official platforms like Weibo.

Anyway from what read it’s seems to be doing well in China so yeah. Just move on. Just put it in your not interest drama list and go on your day.😅
