did you miss the part where we saw emperor back story ?😅. Emperor is Empress dowager adopted son. Empress dowager had another son, a real prince ( I forgot his name)who was killed by emperor scheming cause he wanted the throne . Crown prince is the son of the ED’s biological son. ED knows that Emperor killed her biological son so she probably wanted him to suffer the lost of his favourite child too and decided to poison crown prince. I don’t know how Emperor endup taking crown prince as his son but ED probably doesn’t know that otherwise she wouldn’t have poisoned her only biological grandson. Everything will most likely get revealed in the upcoming episodes.

It’s not the emperor who did, novel readers say it’s grandma ( empress dowager)who did it to take revenge on emperor. Crown prince is not emperor son but he’s the only one with the “ royal bloodline “I’m not sure if she knows that crown prince is her only biological grandson.

I usually like politics depth but in this drama I actually like the pacing. they don’t dragged minor or major politics situations. it’s mostly get solve within an episode or two. It’s not an heavy watch

He said it was to distinguish between them so it’s doesn’t conflict and protect his title as Crown Prince, but I think the real reason the Emperor named the other princes differently is because the Crown Prince is the only one with true royal blood. Since the Emperor was adopted and kind of took the throne, 😬he doesn't actually share that bloodline.
I find it weird, though. Usually in a setup like this, the Emperor would get rid of the legitimate royal heir and make one of his biological sons Crown Prince so his own bloodline stays on the throne.

I don't think he poisoned him, but I still wonder why he chose to take the ML in as his "son," make him Crown Prince, and favor him so heavily despite not being his real child. Is it guilt? 🤔

I'm rewatching episode 3, and I just realized why the other princes are named "Xiao Chang.." while only the Crown Prince is named "Xiao Hua..." unless there’s another reason that wasn’t revealed yet.

I can't stand him anymore. I just skip his scene or bear with it if he's in the same shot as the leads. If even after the bath scene he's not letting go, they seriously need to get rid of him lol.
