Too bad for me, his acting is so over-the-top and takes me out of the drama’s atmosphere. It would have been better if the writer had made his character smarter especially as the emperor of a rival country like Susha where everyone else is portrayed as wise. I honestly don’t understand how Xia’s brothers could rule a kingdom, they’re just too weak and silly 😑

Love triangle? Yes but not from the main leads couple. No break up between the main lead and it is HE. They are together around ep.17? Maybe… oh I have to rewatch it again to find out because this drama is worth rewatching!

Nah… he’s way too overacting. The truly fascinating performance in this drama is the Emperor of Susha, the ML’s father whose unpredictable and complex character far surpasses the young emperor. The young emperor’s character is just obviously crazy with no depth while most of the other characters in the drama had to play dual roles, hiding their true intentions to keep the plot unpredictable. So praising only the young emperor’s acting because of his blatantly over-the-top behavior is really unfair to the other actors who performed excellently in their roles as well.
I would say many of the actors in this drama are excellent not just him. As for his brother, he’s the weakest character mostly just a pretty face but I don’t watch dramas for looks alone. No offense!
I anticipated this drama before it came out because I liked both leads but I had to wait patiently until it finished…
I thought I was the only one who found the later part of the drama quite unsettling because of the melodrama between XY and that Xia sibling. Maybe I’m also the only one who thinks the Emperor of Jinxiu is overacting. On the surface, he acts crazy and many have praised him as stealing the show…..but honestly, it’s just exaggerated behavior no depth, no subtlety. Everyone else in the drama is calm on the outside while hiding their true intentions to keep the plot unpredictable, yet this guy openly shows everything he thinks and is suddenly considered the one who stole the show? Probably because it’s just that obvious 😂
If I had to compare, the truly phenomenal acting in this drama comes from the Emperor of Susha, the ML’s father! He is so calm on the surface, faking his illness (after regaining consciousness) to observe the actions of those around him. The way he expresses his disappointment toward the ML for his actions while he was unconscious that completely blew my mind! He is one of the most unpredictable and complex emperors I’ve seen in a C-drama. I really loved seeing FSG argue fearlessly with his father and how his father secretly proud of him becomes so disappointed because the ML didn’t become the person he had hoped, it wasn’t at all the way I expected! That combination of subtlety, complexity and unexpected reactions was incredible… I never saw it coming and I was like 😧😧😧 the whole time during his scenes!
Based on the trailer it looks like Prince Feng Sui Ge will be bullied a lot by Fu Yi Xiao and he seems to enjoy it 😅 I really like the rhythm between them. Looking forward to it. Is this S or S+ project?
