Up to EP 19. No lip to lip kiss scene so far. That's how I like it. China should quit copying from Hollywood.

I always think what their real life bf/gf will think when they kiss another person lip to lip?

If anyone needs some "feel good" remedy about the underperforming box office of this movie, here are two…
Speak of Supergirl, Hollywood keeps recycling the same stale costume, just using different textures for the body suit.

No wonder why no one in China wants to see their movie. They should have hired a Chinese designer to spice things up a bit. For example, what if her cape was split down the middle from her back? Then when she flies, those two split cape ends would look like long hanfu sleeves!

Two long red fluttering things in the wind look more fashionable than one red fluttering thing.

Definitely my first time seeing someone refer to Joseph as fat or big. You must be into those lean and thin boy…
I would say Joseph looks exceptionally "wide" compared to all the other male characters in this drama. There is a scene where Joseph took off his shirt. We see it's all muscle mass underneath, but the man simply looks "fat" with clothes on compared to other males in this drama.

I always thought Joseph Zeng is too "big" to play the ML. Even though he is not actually fat, his body size/dimensions don't give out the lean and mean male hero vibes. I didn't like him in Heaven Sword Dragon Sabre. He gotta be the "fattest" Zhang Wuji I ever seen. (If you get Joseph and say Yang Yang to play as Zhang Wuji, Joseph would definitely appear the "fatter" version). Surprisingly, Veil of Shadows is the only drama where I didn't mind Joseph taking on the role of ML.

I've only seen EP8 so far. It's OK so far, unlike past Guo Jingming dramas where the quality is like the low quality kind of stuff (consumer products not dramas) China made in the 1980's. Can attribute this to advances in technology plus investors of dramas are richer than in the past so more money for quality visual effects.

If anyone needs some "feel good" remedy about the underperforming box office of this movie, here are two points to consider:

1. Even though Dear You has beaten Blades of the Guardians by a wide margin now, that movie will NEVER make half of what this year's star Pegasus 3 made at the box office.

2. Supergirl only made a cumulative of 1 million USD over 6 days since opening in China. I have never seen a more pathetic performance for a Hollywood movie! So to compare a projected cumulative of USD $3-$10 million to +$200million, you get my drift!

On target to make slightly less than half of Pegasus 3 box office gross by the end of its run.

On another note, Supergirl (Hollywood movie) made a friggin 1 million USD cumulative over 6 days since release in China -- simply outstanding!

Nearly missed the time window to pirate the REMAKE version of Ep 177-178. I wouldn't have known they remade those episodes after they aired and fans complained until I checked out the BiliBili official playlist on YT.

I guess I should have paid more attn to the word "repack" the next time (which I glossed over) instead of having to rely on YT to tell me there was even a remake at all! Even Chinese pirates in the mainland China are closely adhering to established Western standards and naming conventions!

I wish they could future proof the donghua a little bit more.

Episode 177 onward now available in 10-bit (1 billion colors) as opposed to the traditional 8-bit (16.7 million colors). 8-bit becoming fast obsolete in display technology, but...

They should also make available a 3-D (stereoscopic) version as well. AI glasses are becoming the norm. Who says AI glasses can't deliver a good stereoscopic 3-D experience in the near future?

Imagine what a waste they spent millions and millions rendering a donghua in flat 2-D images.

BTW, release schedule of donghua on YT is almost... *YAWN*

Ep 180 already out on Chinese pirate websites, but they haven't even released Ep 179 on YT yet! (Maybe they lag becoz need time for ENG and other translations + VIP's get new episodes first...)

Oh so you want the local languages to be disappeared and 100% replaced with potonghua? even in cities like Guangzhou…
How am I racist? Erase ethnic minority language is already happened during the Qing dynasty. No need to cry foul about something that had already been done!

Have you even been to Chaoshan? The funny part is most young people in Chaoshan don't even speak that dialect.…
Most youths in Chaoshan don't even speak/understand Chaoshan dialect. Dialect spoken in movie is clearly a ploy to look "exotic" to mainland China viewers, its primary market.

There is a marketing concept, where to stand out and attract attention, you must be seen as exotic or employ some kind of novelty or gimmick. It's clearly working as everyone mostly refers to this movie as "that Chaoshan dialect movie".

Currently #2 movie of the year in mainland China in terms of box office gross, but still wide gap to the #1 movie…
"For the vast majority of the Chinese diaspora, I've encountered, have never regretted ever leaving."

That becoz by the time they "regret" it already too late (murdered to look like suicide becoz they worked in a sensitive field that West views as security threat, booted out of a job they thought could provide financial security/stability till retirement becoz their skin is the wrong color, etc.)

Why is there something wrong? You know who lives on those Caribbean islands? The Dutch/French that conquered those islands and Black ppl they imported as slave.

Caribbean Dutch/French will never marry a Chinese. It's beneath their status. All that's left for daughters of Chinese immigrants to marry are the "left over" scraps (the descendants of Black slaves the Dutch/French imported generations ago).

If this was the kind of goal or objective the original Chinese pioneers sought out by migrating to the Caribbean in the first place, then what was even the point?

The world is change. Life is change. Nothing remains fixed and constant forever. America was once the richest country in the world, now their suburbs look like even worse than third world country.

China was once the poorest country in the world, even poorer than India. Look at her now.

Only dumb dumbs fail to grasp the Law of Change. That why they moved abroad just so their daughters and granddaughters could marry a Black man...

$5 says one song from the S2 OST soundtrack/score/BGM will resemble Donkey Kong Country 1 (the SNES game). Any better(s_?

The reason is, one song in the S1 imitated the OP song of Renegade Immortal donghua.

Renegade Immortal donghua now has new OP/ED songs which are ripe for S2 of Immortal Ascension to "draw inspiration" from... ( and the new ED credits song of Renegade Immortal sounds like it belongs in the Donkey Kong Country universe, which is a very fitting theme for the S2 of Immortal Ascension, as it will mostly feature vast ocean/tropical island hopping scenes)

I wonder how S2 will be received within China and abroad.

The world had devolved into a dystopia since the release of S1.

China-Japan relations have hit new lows with the resurgence of neo Japanese militarism. I wonder how the audience will receive a Japanese female lead who will take up a lot of screen time.

Also, all of humanity uniting to defeat a common alien enemy, it seems rather comical given the current tense geopolitical environment (ie. G7 countries[wanting to] wage economic war with China and sanctioning China this and that to the extreme).

These points taken make me think S2 might not perform as well as the S1...

By the way, what's the problem with the "Hunter" guy?? I have been following mydramalist and particularly…
I'm like some super-popular MDL celebrity. When I comment on another drama or movie, I always thought I was just a nobody and nobody recognizes me.

I have been "stalked" too many times in other comment sections, I feel like everyone else posting there is paparazzi that instantly recognize my MDL "celebrity" status...

I prefer ppl to just ignore me in other comments sections, instead of "look that's Hunter2022 from [insert the last comment section you saw me post in]..." It makes me feel like I'm THAT special/famous on MDL, which I rather not have. To be famous and not profit from it...

Fights Break Spheres (Wu Lei drama version) sucked. It was a bastardization of the original story the same way S1 Douluo Continent drama was a basterdization of the manhua with reshuffling of plotlines.

Tencent is such a smart arse when it comes to adapting live action dramas. They always felt the need to make their dramas completely different from what the original authors wrote.

Tencent NOT smart enough to realize you DON'T need to change a damn thing when doing a live action version (Immortal Ascension, I Am Nobody, etc.) and still produce financial successes!

This why I will NOT watch another Tencent drama, unless it's something like 3Body S1/S2!!!

I wanna know where do you guys watch the donghua... also if someone knows the Link for full manhua in English,…
From my hard drive. Lol. I prefer to get my 4K raw videos from the same place(s) Chinese citizens who are donghua fanatics are getting theirs in the mainland China. What helps is China official bans those sites, so they are hosted on overseas servers needing VPN to access domestically.

The complete donghua is also officially shown on BiliBili channel on YouTube for FREE from ep 001 all the way to the latest. But you only get it in 1080p...

"Dear You" is a massive box office sensation and has been featured in a Variety Magazine online article:"Filmed…
Currently #2 movie of the year in mainland China in terms of box office gross, but still wide gap to the #1 movie Pegasus 3.

I met a Chinese couple who migrated to some remote island in the Caribbean. Then their daughter has to marry a Black man becoz no other suitable bachelors there. Was this what their grandparents or parents trying to achieve when they sought a "better" life abroad?

People who migrated from China to find a better life are actually cowards. They're like the naive students who chase the hot college major. By the time they graduate from college, that hot major had become cold, no longer offering the same job opportunities, or even experiencing mass unemployment in that sector by graduation time.

Those who stuck to it endured it out in China in the past when she was poor, now China is one of the best places to live in the world, and she don't accept back ex-citizens not their children or grandchildren (except under exceptional circumstances of course).
