Have you even been to Chaoshan? The funny part is most young people in Chaoshan don't even speak that dialect. You hear grown men speak it on the HSR trains coming to or departing from Chaoshan.
But if you pull some random youth off the streets of Chaoshan and ask them if they can speak that dialect, they will reply in Mandarin they cannot understand it.
Film made in all Chaoshan language and becomes box office is more like an exception rather than the norm.
I really don't want to see movies fail financially becoz they tried to imitate that "Chaoshan" thing.
Think of Bruce Lee, would his image have become so iconic if he had died in his 80's instead of 30's? Imagine seeing a senile Bruce Lee fight, would it have made you more or less of a Bruce Lee fan?
Let this be the only one Chaoshan movie to achieve global success. Anymore is like trying to watch Jackie Chan star in movies after he's turned 90.

Buddy I got nonproblem with bromance. I actually like The Untamed.
But when studios in China put focus on making money first (and the only kind of drama that almost guarantees investment return is bromance), then I got a problem with it.
I don't want to be jumping from one bromance drama to the next becoz nothing else is being made!

C-ent has entered a phase where the only works they want to adapt where they can bromance to the end last episode whilst having a token female character to bypass Chinese censorship.
LMAO. Wu Jing should do some self reflection. What was it that made WW2, and W/E1+2 so popular? Could it be they dealt with modern themes like science and technology instead of dumb muscle reflexes performed by old farts way past their prime? Nah.
(BTW, even the Pegasus movie franchise became more and more "sci-fi" with each sequel: from using robots to fast repair a damaged racing car to using AI chips to give drivers from rich backgrounds an edge to win the race. Pretty sure main actor of Pegasus [nor his map reading buddy] can't do a round house kick even if you put a gun to his/their heads...)
The epilogue was one of the funniest parts of the show. They strongly hinted at a romance between the leads early…
Did you ever watch the recently aired Whispers of Fate? It was like this too. They made you think the female lead was gonna romance the ML, then they just pop that bubble 75% into the drama, and all along it was actually bromance between two guys...
I hate this kind of stuff. Studios in China think the only way to attract a large viewership (that comprises of mostly female viewers) and make money selling airing rights or VIP subscriptions is where the story approaches BL (or bromance) but never really crosses that redline so as to pass Chinese censorship.
The new kind of drama studios love adapting is where the main focus is bromance, but then there is also a female character that serves no purpose. It's this kind of stuff that easily guarantees a successful censorship review by the Chinese censorship board.
When the rare C-drama comes where the focus or end goal is actually the FL, that drama I keep on my HDD after watching it.

BiliBili has no budget to hire musicians to compose new songs every now and then (not that the old op/end songs weren't good, they suited the series no matter if the plot of that particular episode was dark or light-hearted)

There are some C-dramas that look like BL (or bromance) but they are NOT becoz the second male lead REALLY dies in the second season. But definitely, Zhan Zhao isn't one of them. ZZA is a disgusting attempt to hide its BL theme under the hood by incorporating a female character that's only there to bypass Chinese censorship!

Movie just got released to online pirating communities within China. It was so shiet, even Chinese piraters and pirateers don't want to share it in 4K. (You can only find the 1080p version unless you want to sign up to some Chinese file hosting service).
Usually, if Chinese audiences like something, it will hit their pirating communities full on in 4K 60fps 10-bit colors a few weeks after finished screening in theaters. To be released primarily only in 1080p and like months later, that says alot about how even pirates from China don't care for it.
Pegasus 3 was released in theaters the same time as Blades of the Guardians and I already pirated and watched Pegasus 3 twice in 4K 60fps 10-bit more than a month ago. Blades is not only tardy in being released to pirates, but in 1080p means it's only being watched on mobile phones while they are transiting the subways, not something they set some time aside on their home theater systems.

Donghua is the same as anime except Donghua comes from China while anime comes from Japan. Also, most Donghuas employ 3D CGI animations often using some popular off the shelf 3D engine like Unreal Engine. While anime mostly refers to 2D toons featuring "kawaii" characters.
