BiliBili has no budget to hire musicians to compose new songs every now and then (not that the old op/end songs weren't good, they suited the series no matter if the plot of that particular episode was dark or light-hearted)

The Chinese government did tried their best to help viewers like you. When The Untamed drama became wildly popular which is hard core brotherly love, the CCP cracked down on this BL genre.

Unfortunately, it had NO real effect on the C-ent industry. All the BL ban ever did was make studios produce BL dramas in disguise by introducing the token female lead character that never has any romantic scenes with the male lead, while the BL theme is naked for all to see in the backdrop!

There are some C-dramas that look like BL (or bromance) but they are NOT becoz the second male lead REALLY dies in the second season. But definitely, Zhan Zhao isn't one of them. ZZA is a disgusting attempt to hide its BL theme under the hood by incorporating a female character that's only there to bypass Chinese censorship!

Don't see no option to watch this in 4K. Or maybe the 4K option doesn't show up on my phone.

The only clue they even upgraded their tech at all is maybe only Unreal Engine 5 can render in 10-bit (1 billion colors). Whatever they were using before maybe could only do 8-bit color depth.

Anyways, I already got the 4K 10-bit version of this episode. (I NEVER watch this from YT, 1080p is too primitive for my tastes).

Movie just got released to online pirating communities within China. It was so shiet, even Chinese piraters and pirateers don't want to share it in 4K. (You can only find the 1080p version unless you want to sign up to some Chinese file hosting service).

Usually, if Chinese audiences like something, it will hit their pirating communities full on in 4K 60fps 10-bit colors a few weeks after finished screening in theaters. To be released primarily only in 1080p and like months later, that says alot about how even pirates from China don't care for it.

Pegasus 3 was released in theaters the same time as Blades of the Guardians and I already pirated and watched Pegasus 3 twice in 4K 60fps 10-bit more than a month ago. Blades is not only tardy in being released to pirates, but in 1080p means it's only being watched on mobile phones while they are transiting the subways, not something they set some time aside on their home theater systems.

Donghua is the same as anime except Donghua comes from China while anime comes from Japan. Also, most Donghuas employ 3D CGI animations often using some popular off the shelf 3D engine like Unreal Engine. While anime mostly refers to 2D toons featuring "kawaii" characters.

Online sharing community WITHIN China are more sane this time. From episodes 128-176, you could only find this donghua in China in old 4K h264 encoding which took up at least 3GB per episode.

Can you imagine needing at least 3GB of disk space to store one 20 minutes long animation episode?

Now, pirates have it much more better if you pirate the donghua directly from China. The Chinese community have upgraded their raw files to 4K h265 which takes up much half the disk space and in 10-bit colors.

BiliBili maybe they will release the new episodes on international platforms like YT in 4K, but you will never get it in 10-bit colors only the older 8-bit color format.

If you are a pirate, the only channels worth pirating from are the same ones used by Chinese users from the Mainland China. They will give you the best possible resolution, framerate and color format!

This doesn't look like a drama plenty of viewers in China are raving about.

I haven't actually started watching the drama yet. I previewed a bit of ep 31. Not another grave digging up scene. Those kinds of drama are very cliche and boring. Let me guess some family member objects to the grave being dug up. There is a big verbal fight. Finally the hero uses his authority to enforce the grave digging on the family member. The family then silently watches in awe as new clues appear. Easy 30 minutes of screen time with little writing effort.

All C-dramas are like this. The plot gets stupidly dumb 10 episodes in. That's how you fill up ~40 episodes of screen time to make money.

On the other hand just think of it like this: They pay those actors and actresses handsomely. They must be tortured or made to suffer the acting out of silly (sub-) plots.

Original Force studio is rather funny. They took their sweet time to delay the Donghua to upgrade to Unreal Engine 5. Oops, by the time they just start using it, Unreal Engine 6 is already out!

I never understood why they had to upgrade to UE5. Whatever they were using before was already stellar! I also never understood why China has to rely on Unreal Engine at all, which could be cut off anytime via sanctions and not make their own engine!

Guys that make it big in C-ent based solely on their looks and zero acting skills are boring. The other boring type is they just say some one liner and subsequently become overnight success story: Leo Wulei and his one liner in Nirvana in Fire "hmph, pian ren!"

But Mo Caihuan is dead after that and her reincarnation will interact with Han Li again later on. Regardless of whether she married and that was her child or not that was IT between her and Han Li in that lifetime.

They botched this part about Yang Yang being ordinary while doing the opposite. Han Li is not supposed to be a lady killer by looks. He's just an average guy with immense talent for cultivation. That's y the ladies fall for him for his talents. The right thing they should have done was make Yang Yang look less prettyboyish with makeup or costumes that makes him look more ordinary.

Try asking Deepseek. It's "read" all volumes of the novel and scoured all forum topics on the drama or Donghua.

Not gonna happen. Most C dramas lose viewership in subsequent sequels. There is no sane investor want to put more money into a sequel.

Donghua is top for me. I didn't like the drama all that much. I can't believe they botched the daisy field scene with Chen sister (there was not a single daisy where they met). That was one of the coolest part of the S1 Donghua.

They have an official Channel on YT where u can watch all past episodes for free. Maybe subscribers can get the latest episode first...

Drama did worse than Princess Agents 2:

弃剧：看完11集弃剧，武侠质感和意境虽有，武打场面拍得也还行（没有诟病的慢镜头，但也谈不上很精彩），但剧情是越看越无趣（看到11集完全没有吸引力了），完全不走心。三人帮（展昭、白玉堂、霍玲珑）虽然好看顺眼（章若楠脸蛋是真好看），无奈剧情无趣也是徒劳了。番外：正午阳光首部武侠剧。第8集三人帮（展昭、白玉堂、霍玲珑）成型，幕后大反派（襄阳王）已显山露水（37集的剧8集就摊牌，太早了），其扮演者感觉气场太弱了。

Abandoned the drama: I quit watching after 11 episodes. The martial arts vibe and artistic conception were there, and the fight scenes were okay (no criticized slow-motion shots, but not particularly exciting either), but the plot became increasingly uninteresting (by episode 11, it was completely unappealing), showing no effort at all. The trio (Zhan Zhao, Bai Yutang, Huo Linglong) was visually pleasing (Zhang Ruonan's face is really beautiful), but unfortunately, with an uninteresting plot, it was all in vain. Extra: The first wuxia drama by Daylight Entertainment. By episode 8, the trio (Zhan Zhao, Bai Yutang, Huo Linglong) had formed, and the main behind-the-scenes villain (King of Xiangyang) had started to show his presence (revealing the villain in episode 8 of a 37-episode drama is too early). The actor playing him seemed to have a weak aura.
