The comment you're referring to (which I haven't read) is indeed strange and rather childish. However, there was no reason to address misogyny in the replies to my own comment, since I've never made a misogynistic comment. Your reply implied that this was the case, which is unfair.
"your earlier comment should be pinned to end this internal misogyny 🤣 it's like we are watching a different drama with op" "i wish i could pin my comment lmaoo, more people need to see it and check their internal misogyny"
Precisely, my comment was mainly about the actress's acting perf, not her character's behavior. The duality of her behavior is interesting, imo. It reflects the duality of her own life, having to hide her true personality to act as a man she isn't but also could be.
I haven't read all the comments of the drama, but from what I've read, the criticisms mainly focused on the fl's lack of conviction in her portrayal, an opinion I don't find misogynistic. It's not inconceivable to think that, given the time period and the tragic tone that encompasses the fl's life, the drama should display a more visible intensity to convince the audience when it comes to the fl "inner world", traumas & else. But I also understand that some people aren't so attached to these kinds of requirements and simply want to be entertained. That being said, letting people express their opinions doesn't mean invalidating one's own.
I have dropped it after the fourth episode, I couldn't connect with this drama at all. But according to other…
So far, the actual posters are better than the drama itself ... I'm at ep7, nothing that interesting is happening, I hope the 2nd part of the drama will be more entertaining to watch ...
The first 4 eps were nice, but it got boring after real fast, which lowkey suprised me LOL. I expected a lot better from this drama, the fl's acting is very disappointing here, at no point does she really convince me to live the life of her character, her mannerisms, energy and the way she acts with her body are amateur. Compare to her ml, she is clearly not at his level and its quite awkward to watch.
WHO CAN BELIEVE, BASED ON HER ACTING, THAT HER CHARACTER WAS A GENERAL WHO HAD A HARD LIFE, WHO FACED VIOLENT ENVIRONMENTS FOR THE MAJORITY OF HER LIFE??? Her lack of revelant facial expressions is also underwhelming .... I guess I like Zhou Ye's acting in modern dramas better ... The pacing isn't bad but nothing that interesting is happening ... I'm gonna continue mainly for the lovely chemistry of the main cp ...
It's more complicated than that.ML's mother who only wanted ML to be his dead brother. ML grew to hate himself,…
Nothing of what you just wrote contradict my pov. "These things do happen in real life" indeed, women always had to be more than a woman for men. You whole explanation just gave even more credit to my review.
Heck I had two comments which I forgot to put in.I really do have serious feminist cred and am ancient, so i do…
Cherry's way of loving was very pure, but her inability to understand, to grasp the significance of what Qx had done by taking her hostage with her consent, was very disturbing in my opinion. She never knew how to put herself first. She allowed herself to fall into a state of sacrifice to pursue a man who was wondering whether or not to abandon her… I can't say that she is to that extent responsible.
When I read your review I kept saying in my head, Yes..but no. Yes.. but no. I thought she was mothering him yes.…
Thank you for sharing your feedback. I understand what you mean, I underdstand that idea of that sort female youth yearning for reverse fairytales, " that a girl could yearn for a princess boy to save" and I think it's actually beautiful. But that wasn't my issue with the drama at all. Her chasing him and believing in him was never something that I find wrong.
My problem was that the writing forced her to remain in the illusion that not receiving reciprocity, honesty, true trust was not that important, that her youth could be sacrificed without any time limit precisely to continue believing in something that had factually failed. That your love for yourself was insignificant, destined to take second place to the love you can have for a man who literally doesn't believe in his own love but also in the strength of your love for him.
A woman's dignity and integrity should not give way to the desire to chase after a man who is unsure whether to keep her in his life or not.
i don't want to give this drama low rating, but i agree with you. i really dislike the ML character. when i watch…
Thanks ! Tbh, I think he truly loved her, but his love wasn't strong enough to make him realize he had to be honest with her from the get go. And a part of me thought somehow he also didn't believe her love for him was that strong. He probably thought her love for him was based only on the admiration, when in fact her love was deeper. I would have like her to actually leave when she took that taxi for him to really aknowledge the true impact of his own actions on her life, which he never actually did, and that's a shame.
Overhyped af. It's getting lowkey cynical how kdramas are using tragic stories of bullying, infidelity and else to entertain people while Korea as a society STILL managed to maintain one of the worst normalization of bullying and misogyny in their country.
