By the way, where are the other 4 foster kid? I love the 2 I’ve seen so far even though they at opposite sides
The favorite foster kid is currently typing this sentence, though he's not as outstanding as Chen Zhi Pao or the others.

I just realized this show is like a mix of Joy of Life and Ever night, although this drama is more like 95% Wuxia and 5% Xianxia.
On Sword Snow Stride Dec 17, 2021
I've watched up to ep 7.

- I really like Hu Jun's acting! I remember he used to be the leading star in the 2000's.
- Vengo Gao is quite impressive being the A-hole/domineering/and possibly scheming character.
- Overall, super solid acting across the board.

I'm not familiar with her. I google her, and it says she's an idol. She's pretty!

I haven't seen her in dramas but I have seen her sing in a recent singing show....and she's quite a good singer!

Oh....Sharla Cheung, she is one sexy lady!

I can only think of two sexy ladies in cdramas - Zhang Yuqi and Zhang Tian Ai.

The lightning is like Joy Of Life
I'm okay with her, but she acts more like the little sister rather than a maid/assassin. Anyways, I'll have to wait for a week to see a few more episodes since I'm a non-vip/free-loader on wetv.

Yes, it kind of reminds me at the beginning of the drama when he was a child. Since we haven't seen the city side of things for this drama, I think it's a bit darker lighting so far.
On Sword Snow Stride Dec 16, 2021
I've watched two episodes so far:

Pros:
- Solid acting and real live voices!
- It's realistic, in terms of the setting. They're in the outskirts away from the city, so it's only the palace and the cavalry post. People think it's low budget because it's not set in the city with lavish outfits and palaces, and the color gradient is darker and bluer than usual.
- Story looks good. It's slow but you can follow the narrative.

Negatives:
- The pace is slow.
- The humor is a hit and miss, more like dark comedy.
- The action with CGI and cut scenes can be improved.

I can imagine Ni Ni holding a gun like a boss but never seen her doing chinese martial arts before, LAR was only.......…
VS for action scenes is good, but Bai Lu would do better with the acting. I've seen her in The Legends, I thought she was pretty good.

I was also thinking of Zhang Tian Ai or Jing Tian in these roles...quite curious how they would do. Action choreographers in the mainland aren't as good as their HK counterparts. It also has to do with the directors. HK directors are veterans at shooting actions scenes at a certain angles.

Wang Yibo and Victoria Song is not bad, but I could imagine Zhang Xin Cheng play the role of Baili Hong Yi really well, and Bai Lu playing the role of Wu Si Yue really well. I'd pick Ni Ni, but I've never seen her do action scenes, but I could really see her acting in this role with her own flair.

No, there are some actors who dubbed their own scenes. Chinese dramas overall are a weird piece of projects that's very inconsistent. Sometimes, they use their real voice live, and some scenes they redubbed their voice, and some other scenes they use a voice actor. LOL!

When it's redubbed by original or voice actors, it's 95% mismatch of their voice movement and their voices. While I don't like redubbing, I've noticed that when original voices redubbed their own scenes, it has a better pace and tone of acting. Very few voice actors try to match the actor's lips movement and tone of voice, but 90% of them don't do it well or don't even try....it's all over the place.

No, not every costume drama, but most of them. I can recall Joy of Life, The Rise of Phoenixes, and Nirvana in Fire 1 & 2.

Up to 3 episodes, I'll give it an 8.5 so far. I hope the script and narrative will continue to be solid, instead of always focusing on the costumes and scene stages (no doubt it's amazing). If they used their original voice LIVE (not redubbed), I'd give it 8.8-9.0.

As a hunky gentlemen such as myself (jk :)), I agree. Male or female can be good or bad rulers. But the downfall of Chinese dynasties are mostly done by Eunuchs...and they still haven't learned that phenomenon even until the the Qing dynasty.

My guess is that in real life, she was extremely intelligent, crafty, and highly astute; thus no one wants to go against her. Second, no matter how much they disliked her, they know she's actually a good ruler for the people and nation even though she was cruel within the political court.

Maybe I'm one of the few who likes the acting of the FL. It's too bad Chinese directors and producers have a notorious reputation of dubbing the voices (original or not) that ruins the whole part of acting!!!

Yes, I agree. Terry Lin has the perfect voice for these OSTs. I also think Yu Kewei should sing more OSTs, because she has such a beautiful and soothing voice!
