I'm really disappointed with the ending. Censorship is ruining Cdramas why are fictional stories being taken so seriously that they require heavy regulation? A simple disclaimer or notice before the drama starts should be enough. These open endings, where the leads just exchange eye smiles for ten seconds, are painfully cringe.

I understand censorship was introduced because some underage viewers were taking these stories seriously but there are better ways to address that. Blanket restrictions shouldn't come at the cost of storytelling integrity.

So looking at the upcoming spoilers, it seems Shi Qianlu will twist the truth to make Tingyan doubt what she saw and to mislead Sima Jiao. He alters the truth by showing Tingyan illusions and half-truths, making it look like Sima Jiao is wants to kill tingyan driving a wedge between them. This manipulation will trigger Tingyan’s “cold fish body.”

Didn’t read the novel but this whole part felt so out of character to me. It bothers me that he spent 18 years…
"During the 10 years of LYT absence Sima Jiao kept torturing the spiritual flame thus himself and became more irritable, unbearable headache all the time and never a moment of sleep or peace. He just kept sweeping places after places to find her."
He is so devoted to her omg😭😭WHO MADE THE DECISION TO NOT INCLUDE THIS. This makes me mad actually

They should’ve hired you as a screenwriter cause you’re cooking rn. This would’ve been sooo good.

I didn’t feel much emotion from the ML after the FL’s disappearance it all felt so bland and toned down so quickly. I get that screen writers had to wrap everything up in 33 episodes, but that doesn’t mean they had to completely water down such an important sequence. After ML woke up, he didn’t even show much emotion he was just like, “ok” and it felt so out of character. Instead of showing us his pain, obsession, and relentless struggle, they reduced everything into a sleep coma arc, which honestly felt odd.

Literally it didn’t feel like her disappearance affected him all that much. It was hella anticlimactic. Only part I think was good abt this was him saying that he’s gonna take out the demon Lord and make his subordinates search for her.
And regarding the run time, they could’ve shown us his emotional state and his search for her in a montage that lasts like 2 or 3 minutes if time was an issue. That would’ve still been better than what they ended up giving us. Very unfortunate.

sima jiao going into a coma for 18 years instead of desperately looking for tingyan is so out of character likeeeeeee…
Yeah that's he just went to sleep and even after waking up he is like yeah let's see if I find her. And even after finding he wasn't that excited. Yeah the promo ohh my goodness he is back to his role of loving her but that was literally odd . But maybe that was too save time and episode otherwise one episode might be taken in it now they just made him sleep and done 18 years

Writers really should’ve stuck with the novel, because Sima Jiao was never a weak character who would just fall…
Ah, this part in the novel make more sense about SimaJiao, I also wondered why the drama shows that he went into coma for 18 yrs. Agreed that it makes more sense that he was spending the 18 yrs searching for FL instead.

I didn’t read the novel but I did feel underwhelmed with how they wrote SJ in the aftermath of losing her. it needed way more angst and gravitas. I’m sure once they are together again things will improve but they really did take much of the emotional weight of him inadvertently causing her death and how he must have been torn apart by that away with the 18 year coma-ish stuff.

Writers really should’ve stuck with the novel, because Sima Jiao was never a weak character who would just fall into some 18+ year slumber. In the novel, he’s portrayed as a powerful and determined figure when Tingyan disappeared, he searched endlessly for her across the demon realm. But in the drama they toned him down so badly making him just fall into a coma-like sleep for years. It completely erases the depth of his struggle and his unyielding devotion. Instead of showing the powerful, relentless Sima Jiao from the novel, they reduced him to a passive, sidelined version of himself. Honestly, it’s such a letdown 😭

sima jiao going into a coma for 18 years instead of desperately looking for tingyan is so out of character likeeeeeee 😭 HATE when writers stop trying after 10 episodes like that is NOT how my man from early eps would act.

Yesterday I finally completed the novel and honestly it’s such a gem. What I loved the most is that there’s no unnecessary angst mode between the leads their relationship feels so natural and refreshing. The FL is super chill and laid-back, the kind of character who refuses to get dragged into all the messy nonsense happening in the realm.
By the second arc, you can really see her growth in terms of power and abilities, but what’s amazing is that it doesn’t change her personality at all she’s still witty, carefree, and doesn’t take things too seriously. Her attitude brings a lightness to the story that balances out the whole immortal demon world setting.

The dynamic between the leads is also so wholesome. Instead of the typical tragic separations or heavy drama, they basically live like an old married couple bickering playfully, supporting each other quietly, and finding comfort just in being together.
I really hope the drama adaptation stays true to this vibe. The last thing we need is them adding unnecessary angst sob story. The charm of the novel lies in its humor, the relaxed energy of the FL, and the cozy, married-couple bond of the leads.
