Wasted potential and a lot of room for improvement
I heard a lot of negativity about this movie. Normally that would scare me off from watching a movie but this one in particular was hard to skip. A few years ago I quite a big ZeeNunew fan and it surprises me that I actually never got the motivation or the idea in general to watch this movie. If you've watched Khemjira you'll be surprised about the amount of identical details in the story. I would say it's an alright movie and the negativity is honestly a bit too low but the plot is extremely rushed. ZeeNunew have good chemistry but in this series, due to the screen time, it was barely there.
This movie somehow really reminded me off Khemjira. The style, the editing and especially the story. However, there were some big differences. It wouldn't surprise me if they inspired Khemjira slightly after After Sundown. The acting, the flash backs and the story itself resembles a lot of Khemjira. The bracelet stuff as well. The only difference is that After Sundown has a lower production and it's just a movie.
Crazy how much this felt like Khemjira and how Namping also plays in this movie. Like I mentioned before, I used to be a HUGE Zonzon and used to follow everything they acted in, but somehow I never felt like watching this movie. But the issue had never been the reviews, it's just simply the plot. I actually didn't know NammonNamping were supposed to be shipped or not. They were cute in this series but in my opinion, I still prefer KengNamping. I hope to see more of Nammon though!
I'm actually surprised by the hate towards this movie. In my opinion it was actually pretty good. The plot was good but everything was extremely rushed. I'm a bit irritated that they added the common "oh wait we are childhood best friends" trope like they did a LOT around 2021-2023. Rawi and Phloeng fell in love way too fast even though they hated each other at first, that isn't a huge issue but I feel like the plot would've been so much more interesting and thrilling if they didn't. It was kinda obvious that Phloeng would protect Rawi each time something happened, so I cared less about those events. As for Phutson, to me it was very obvious that there would be at least an argument between him and Rawi. Maybe like a revenge type of argument. Then the ending became the most confusing and rushed part. Aside from ZeeNunew barely having a lot of time to fall in love, there were so many sudden events. Like the fire suddenly starting, losing the bracelet and the call out of nowhere, in like 40 seconds.
I only know director Aod Bhandit from his old work, but not his newer work. I had no idea what to think due to that. I feel like at this point, Aoftion Kittipat, has done all the Executive producing work for ZeeNunew. This movie had apparently 3 producers but Chawthip isn't the most popular director. I feel like when we look purely at the producing work that this could've used a bigger improvement. The screenwriting and writers weren't bad yet the movie itself wasn't very successful.
I would say it's much beter than I expected from the ratings. I'm still in shock at the matching details between Khemjira and After Sundown. Would I suggest watching this? Nah. If you're a really big ZeeNunew fan and you do not want to miss a single movie or series of theirs I would say it won't hurt to watch. But it's not worth it or a big recommendation.
