The Emperor said hed punish anyone who tried to break up this marriage. Old Princess Ruyang and stepmom from hell have been adamant about their dislike of this union. Zisheng there was a possibility that these 2 who can't control themselves would attend to cause trouble especially after step-mom from hell showing up at NN's place for no reason 2 days before. The Emperor attending Zisheng knew, but not trouble to the extent of the Emperor intervening upon arrival.
I for one, I am very happy that he was ahead of the curve to get what was owed to these 2 paid back.

Think about it Shaoshang has barely met other people, who are kind and nice to her. She's now the Empresses mentee, the Empress shows affection and likes Shaoshang for who she is, which in turn makes the Empress the guiding light in Shaoshang's life. If the 1 person who has expressed belief in you has now become depressed, despondent and has stop eating what are you going to do if you're in Shaoshang's shoes? You try to empart knowledge that your Mentor just taught you onto the person that's causing her grief!!!
Shaoshang didn't over step in anyway, she didn't give CP advice on what to say, she didn't drag him to the Emperor's quarters. She gave life advice to the son of her Mentor that's heartbroken because he's gone to bat for family. She wanted to ease her Mentors heartbreak... She didn't do it for CP, she did it for the Empress. I thought being filial was the highest trait a person could have in those times??
That being said, the problem is that CP is too dumb to see that he's being filial to the wrong people. He should be filial to his parents and respect their wishes to stay out of mess!
