I think it's because of the plot need it. Wangchuan river is a place with harsh environment. Yandan's immortal spirit and immortal power has scattered after she jump from the void bridge. She stay there for almost 900 years, that's why she became like that.

As far as I know he become mortal, a demon hunter named Tang Zhou. But unfortunately I also don't know why he lost his memorie as Yingyuan.

If I'm not mistaken, Yingyuan goes to mortal world to investigate four ancient artifacts or something like that.

The last scene in ep 15 when Yingyuan accept his punishment, the shadow he saw was his wife Yandan with the blue dress in the dream. And when Yandan accept her punishment before, the shadow she saw was her husband Yingyuan in the dream. They both think they are husband and wife already 😭😭

Now I know why the drama team cast Yangzi and Chengyi for their respective role. The pain is so real 😭😭😭
