The female detective doesn't exactly seem that close to her junior played by Mackenyu there was no chemistry between them so when one character is put in jeopardy and the other is supposed to react you don't feel their dilemma or any sense of loss. And the female lead in general comes across as cold and doesn't express love that well and the lack of bonding scenes naturally didn't help.
Pretty much every relationship they show feels shallow, which would be fine, if they weren't trying to make the cops look like regular 'good' people. The female cop especially, gives me nothing to connect with her and when she's shown connected to others that's not believable either.
So that is one major flaw. But Tori did such a great job and the nuance of the script and direction other than the relationships were pretty good.

And so was that utterly one dimensional character with the most terrible script.
Jun and the other student characters were the only reason I watched thus far because hot villains are totally my thing but this drama was just the most trite, pointless, story with a plot so RANDOM it was just ridiculous.
But the murder mystery was definitely watchable and again because the students stories were engaging especially the Byung Hun and the bullying part was done well otherwise it's just very forgettable and generic.

At the same time I think IU played her character with a kind of innate innocence which never comes across as childish but merely naive especially considering the time period she's in. I think she beautifully portrayed the emotions of her character, whether it was happy or sad or heartbroken. I honestly fell in love with her in this drama.
Lee Joongi ok again another actor who is so talented at portraying a range of emotion and seriously Hanuel is my favorite no doubt but the second Lee Joongi steps in you feel his presence it completely takes over every single scene. And I honestly started rooting for them the second he stepped in and I was put through hell.
Hanuel ok because he played the character with such nuance I was able to despise him lol that's a good thing! And I truly love the way he showed the conflict in his character and made it come alive.
Special mentions to Park Ji Yong for playing her character so damn well and giving us a villainess worth hating and same for Kang Han na who played Yeon Hwa and truly made her character come to life.
Ji Soo and Nam Joo hyuk did great as the supporting cast I absolutely loved their antics and their bromance with each other and with the other princes was so amazing it became heartbreaking.
Another two members of the cast who also made the drama what it is and gave you everything from comic relief to sheer tragedy was Baekhyun and his character prince Eun and his romance with Z hera as Soon deuk! Omg I watched their adorable back and forth again and again.
And I know a lot of people go "idols can't act" and that's such a moronic thing to say as though acting is some kind of special club that you have to take membership in order to act lol like wtf does anyone's job description have to do with their acting skills? Would you tell a library assistant she can't draw? Like ok that is the most elitist bs ever! And I know a lot of people are art elitists but I don't support them because I'm not a douche.
So idols can act and should act and they shouldn't care about a bunch of elitist pricks.
Anyway so yes Baekhyun's role in the beginning was comic relief and rather easy but gets so much more complicated later because of the way the plot progresses. And wow he delivers.
So, am amazing drama about good and evil and insane kind of love.

I'm so in love with Knock and Korn lol it's not even funny. But ok lets be honest, Bad Romance has plenty of faults and yes the whole series has plenty of inconsistencies but that's what happens when you make a single season and then start writing another one that wasn't planned. Everything changes naturally. For instance the actors are younger in Bad Romance and older in Together With Me which is a past story, but you know what that's why it's called suspension of disbelief. My advice is, of you want something fun that you don't have to take seriously watch it. If you want to experience and explore Knock and Korn's world then watch this because some of the moments just wow.
Right, so on to the review.
First off, this isn't Bad Romance it's TERRIBLE romance lol
The two main couples Yihwah and Cho and Knock and Korn are never properly without problems. One couple the girl Yiwah believes that not only is Cho the main love interest, gay but also trying to get her bestie Korns boyfriend Knock to sleep with him. The second main couple, Knock tries to make his boyfriend Korn jealous by hanging out with Cho and pretending to flirt with him. But it gets out of hand when Cho falls for Yiwah and tries to convince her he likes her but Yiwah believes Cho is gay and decides to stalk Cho and Knock to find evidence of Cho being gay with hilarious consequences.
The main lead Yihwa and her love interest Cho they made it so entertaining and also the rest of the supporting cast! Be, Dewey, Martin, Tanguy. Not going to lie the guys Knock constantly kept hanging around ugh they pissed me off lol all except Cho.
But I think that was the point of the show. To show rather dysfunctional relationships in a rom com setting.
But seriously the supporting cast especially the couples were all gorgeous too. But my favorite (aside from Knock and Korn naturally lol) was definitely Cho and Yihwah. From the first moment they meet to the end they're constantly battling.
And same goes for Knock and Korn. I know Knock was just trying to make Korn care for him in the beginning by flirting with Cho but then it escalated and suddenly everything is a total mess!
Seriously gave me anxiety lol especially when that jerk Chinook came in I was cringing so bad. But minor spoiler *when Knock and Korn have that fist fight in the second to last episode lol sorry but it was epic*
But seriously though it's a fun entertaining show with a badass heroine who doesn't wait for some Prince to solve her problems. Yiwah is loyal, extremely arrogant and entitled but in a cute way. Cho is the guy who gets mistaken for a heartless playboy type but turns out to be a really sentimental and caring guy.
Knock appears to be someone who is flirtatious and uncaring but inside he's a total mess and ends up regretting his own mistakes and truly loves Korn but has a hard time saying it because of his own insecurities.
Korn appears to be a people pleaser type everyone likes who looks like he has his shit together but in truth not having Knock is driving him crazy.
It's always entertaining always fun!

Then, I didn't know who the protagonist even is, is it the Golden Time Team leader woman? Or Jang Hyuk? His partner Baek Sung hyun gets severely injured and he's just going about doing other things. WTF? The characters interactions with each other is strictly business so what the hell am I supposed to root for? The son who I barely saw in maybe two episodes, tops? Who also btw they conveniently forget unless they want to use him for a plot line. I enjoyed the little mysteries constantly coming up, that was pretty much the only enjoyable thing because the main story arc was ruined by two main leads who had zero relatability. They just went about solving the plot lines, no deep actual conversation, no insights into their psyche, their needs wants, nothing except for 'that bad thing that happened in the past.' It just started to drag and became pointless after a while. Let's say leave the fact that the main leads don't feel any emotions for anyone period ???? (call me hyung or unni and I'll care for you BARELY for the length of an episode WTF ????) no relationship building over time, it doesn't have to be a romance, can't they just still care for SOMEONE???? It was all just a surface, shallow, story until then.
They put so much emphasis on making everything look good, they forgot to add substance to the script. Even the mystery plot got affected by the fact that the SECOND the ACTUAL villain appears, you know it's them ???????????????????? literally, where was the suspense? The person appears in way too late in the story! I've seen romantic comedies with better mystery plots (Do Bong Soon for instance). See, if you don't want to have romances and bromances, then make the main story arc something epic and subtle like Fargo. There was nothing subtle about Jang Hyuk's acting or anyone else for that matter! It was the typical "who screams louder" Korean drama fest so just make it Korean drama good then! The script was again, just okay.
Bad Guys at least had a fabulous script and epic bromance but Vile City had the same kind of issues VOICE has. All glitter and glamor but zero substance. I did cry a bunch of times, mostly for the secondary characters, like Yesung, when they show the stories and solve that was done brilliantly. Honestly, I was considering ditching it when Kim Jae wook showed up! !!! In love with him ???? even his acting was subtle and not loud, just wow. Honestly, I wouldn't have actually finished it if it wasn't for him. Btw, this show is really disturbing but that was the one thing I actually liked! They were not afraid to get their hands dirty. But having a script where at one point Jang Hyuk says to his nine year old son "Men should always be brave" when he's crying after being traumatized, made me question what year this show was made in ???? so yeah. Some really good stuff but an overwhelming amount of pointlessness and by the middle I was honestly cringing every time Jang Hyuk went on one of his stupid and pointless and terribly delivered tirades mostly "I'll rip you apart blah blah" and the female lead wasn't much better. The secondary characters were acting so much better.
The things that I fell in love with: The messed up darkness, visually it's shot so well aesthetically pleasing, the OST, and of course Jae wook! Even the story started getting more addictive after Birth of the Devil. But I have to admit, the final two episodes, sheer BRILLIANCE. I was completely speechless. Even the main leads annoying habits couldn't destroy that, so I basically went from a ten rating in the beginning, to a six in the middle, to an eight when Jae wook enters, to a straight ten for the last two episodes! So, I'm going to rate an overall 9 because in the end, this show gave me a lot more than it annoyed me and because Jae wook deserved it and whoever decided to make it so dark and messed up deserves it.

pretty sure going to be in the minority here, but yes i do love them and ship them and the casting and direction is damn good. all of it is true and yet i was disappointed. and it wasnt disappointment with just that last episode either.
so hot take or whatever you want to call it, when you watch something that already completely swept you off your feet in the first half, how can you possibly mess it up in the last half? I dont know but here's my honest thoughts.
I have not read the manga so this is based solely off the show, and naturally going to read it now to see who was in the wrong here but its like they picked up a good plot element, super dark, which was the EXPECTATION because I mean not everyone is here for the pointless tears that made no sense when the whole grandma arc was BORINg AS F.
That and the decision to start something dark with akin's character and then it would just get resolved in the next ep!!! like wtf i wasnt there to watch two dudes being boyfriends while the world is against them in a bunch of different pretty looking scenes, that is the plot of every damn bl story line! i was there to watch something different! this was NOT DIFFERENT!
I was there for the plot and it got really thin at one point.
the writing is again, dialogue etc is good naturally but the actual plot they just pick up some conflict and then just go the other way or resolve it way too quick . its like a diff person wrote the last couple of eps because they could have still fixed it in the finale but damn disappointing finale too.
i dont know if some of these things happened because some prude was controlling the creative decisions or because they blvd their audience was too conservative to find akin actually sleeping with someone sus! instead of making it so it didnt actually happen and Johnny just made it look that way! wtaf.
its not even the only time this happened! that one ep where he just tries to solve things on his own was the same resolved by wearing rings ! i mean at least continue that conflict to the finale instead of adding some bs plot about the grandma.
ok like i said, i will definitely rewatch it later and it has some amazing stufff especially pretty much everything to do with the hooney and the xianxia stuff even the sasaeng plot despite being resolved too soon still got to me because they showed a nuanced story for the sasaeng at least.
okay then i will stop nowand get some sleep folks!
have a great day/night and be safe wherever you are <3

This is part of what I have begun to refer to as canon-fandom homework. You like a ship you like an actor and you will have to sit through some series that will truly question your loyalty to any particular fandom. You like Joong Dunk you have to sit through Hidden Agenda to get to something like Heart Killers.
You like Santa, Aou, Boom, you will have to sit through this show.
I have started to see it as one of those things that are part of being in any Fanclub, so I try not to get so bitter about it.
After all, if Santa's role gives you dang cavities there's always the option of watching Jasp.er sadistic over and over again as much as needed until you get all the sweet and fluff washed out of your system.
So, yes, like I said these shows can be a lot of work, but they do give you some nice fluff and even some kissing scenes to tide you over until their agency releases the next one.
This is pretty much the vibe here.
For me personally, I was only there for Santa and Aou Boom and I got a good helping of both because despite the issues the Santa Perth arc actually had some genuinely good moments, I enjoyed no matter how fluffy.
But obviously the highlight for me personally Aou Boom.
I honestly zoned out for most of this but just love me a good toxic codependent couple who are both extremely gorgeous/pretty/all of it.
The skin ship when it comes to the rest was again cutesy at best but these two really kicked it up a notch and their 'plot' to use the term loosely, revolved around the same old violence to others and to each other and being assholes and then magically fixing themselves.
But I forgave a lot when they got to the final proposal scene cause that shit was pretty well done. Gave me some amount of closure at the very least.
So, rating this a little bit generous solely on those sentiments.
But overall, this show has some good friendships and the typical comedy cringe which otp but not all bad, there were some genuinely hilarious moments and not to mention the first part of the Santa Perth story was actually decent and had me hooked. But then it all got pretty repetitive/redundant. Which happened with Aou Boom too but the thing is I wasn't exactly expecting a major plot the moment I watched the first few episodes, and my expectations were low, so I had fun for at least about half of the series and the rest was pretty difficult to sit through though.
Even the parents storyline was done with the same lack of anything meaningful.
[Perth: I hate my mom! I wish I never had to see her face again! ]
[Santa: Bro, you shouldn't hate your own mother. ]
[Perth: Okay, I believe you my cute boyfriend. I won't do it again because now you have fixed me. ]
istg that's what every conflict was like! It got on my nerves!
because conflicts appear and the next moment get resolved and pretty much everyone was there to deliver a bunch of one liners.
That is the full story of my experience of watching this.

Okay so Tol and Tin are now on my top couples list lol Ah so the storyline and writing in general was so good but you know me, I'm a sucker for angst and bishounen/ikemen torture aka whump ;) and obviously this show was in the first half about a ten and then in the end there was angst and torture back personally felt like it was less tame that's one reason Im not rating 10.
The second reason I'm not rating 10 like I did for Manner of Death (Max and Tul OBVIOUSLY) But seriously though I felt like MOD has a much more satisfying ending.
Also I was basically screaming at the Tan Bun cameo and then that ending made me feel like there's more spin offs in the future and I'm all for it.
But seriously MOD had that ending which was all " Tengan me bro " lol as compared to the kiss by the watch building and also I mean you can't beat Max Tul skin ship I'm not even going to pretend like I didn't die when Tan handcuffed Bun to the stairs ffs lol
Anyway... Back to Triage - it's a damn good bl though and even the secondary couple was so adorable!! Just like in MOD where basically it feels like Tan Bun have adopted two kids lmfao but here tbh they never actually got down to doing anything actual, but still they were such a cute ass bickering couple!
Anyway that concludes my review! Watch it you guys!

Spoiler alert
A damn good and addictive horror watch. Totally bingeable!
But that last episode just really pissed me off. Not just the last episode but in general there were some parts of the drama that were way too preachy.
I mean if you want to write an ENTIRE GODDAMN EPISODE showing Zee raping a girl, go ahead, it's your artistic right to show the darkness of something that heinous.
But then don't put a 'rape is wrong by the way you guys' and you keep hammering it then your writing just loses its integrity. If you don't make the underlying message subtle you'll ruin any power your script has.
First for the rape preachiness and then they did the same to the revenge plot! The last episode was basically just Lilly realizing revenge is wrong lol omg no way???! Really???? Rape is wrong????? And revenge is also wrong???? OMG I had no idea!! Ffs that's what it felt like when people get so goddamn condescending and preachy with their scripts.
So, as I've mentioned before the writing was a little weak at times. With all that gore, all the fantastic casting, and production values that felt like such a waste.
That said, I just like how to the end Zee didn't apologize to Lilly and Sonar - (side rant btw: showing Zee rape Lilly would have been enough! But they had to make him to the same to freaking Sonar! The very same night!!! Which MADE ZERO SENSE because did Sonar lack empathy this much that she could only understand Lilly if Bew raped her too?? - end of side rant) - his character was actually pretty consistent which I liked. He was toxic but in his own messed up way he did care about Lyla. But most of all his epic kind of love for someone like Nest was honestly heartbreaking. It was like he closed his heart to love when Nest refused him and then that clip was released which made his life hell just as much and provoked his asshole father to yet another cruel beating - but even when he finally found out it was Nest who did it, he didn't resent her for one second. And still wouldn't stop loving her and actually apologized to HER!
And now for the parts of the story that totally worked for me:
- Tommy and Jimmy playing Ken and Plato. They were literally my favorite! That kiss in the basketball court was just so so so wholesome! And poor Plato ! He deserved better! I just loved them together and just generally their arc was so well written! Except for the inconsistent way Ken behaves in the finale - like he was going nuts over Plato dying one second and then he was all caring for Gel????? They even died in each other's arms ffs WTAF !
- Zee(New) literally BASHING DAN'S SKULL IN. Seriously that scene messed me up. The way he reacts to it, like he's in a trance - it's obvious he loved Dan but the way that island basically turns everyone savage and makes them do this, his decent into hell was just so satisfying to watch lol as a horror/gore enthusiast. I mean he kept saying to Dan he didn't kill Mac, but in the end I think the turning from the person who he thought was his best friend, was the proverbial last nail in the coffin.
Another important thing about this drama is that literally NO ONE IS INNOCENT or redeemable even . Except for maybe Plato. Yes, actually he was the MOST INNOCENT out of them and even he cheated on the girl he was with Fone, and went along with it when Ken was cheating on Gel with him.
And Ken, who was basically acting like a good guy, basically never once tried to stand up for his true love aka Plato and in fact forced Plato to not listen to his conscience just because he was afraid Bew (Zee) would out them. Then kept up the facade of a hetero relationship only to end up cheating on her again.
Mild who, btw again the least worst lol still shot a video of Lyla and Zee because she resented the way Lyla's parents influence won against her own hard work.
Gel was just such a bad person in general, cyber bullying Lyla and bullying her in other ways with Fone. But honestly I still feel bad for Fone and felt not a thing for Gel because at least poor Fone was loyal to Gel. And the way Gel rejected her love and abandoned her but in the end acts like it's bothering her just wasn't convincing and felt like a ploy to survive when Ken goes berserk and tries to kill her.
Mac was again, the kind of protagonist you feel bad for but even Mac was kinda exploiting Nest knowing she loves him and so he was still pretty much carrying a torch for Layla and being used by her he himself feels a little immature and careless with emotions.
Bozo is honestly a forgettable character for the most part and I think that was intentional. He's the kind of person who became Zee's henchman the second he saw that would benefit him (and Mild). But I feel like what he feels for Mild is more familiarity than love which is apparent by the line Mild says "don't try to make me fall in love with you" and honestly he not only chickened out when trying to help Lilly and Sonar against Bew but throughout the story he was basically just following on other people's whims without any actual drive or responsibility.
Lyla is probably the worst and most manipulative victim mentality antagonist. Not only did she feel nothing for her sister, she was dishonest about her feelings to both Mac and Bew. She never tried to stand up to her parents for her sister. When she found out Lily got raped her only sentiment was gleeful satisfaction. She was the one who's told Bew not to apologize to Lilly and kept saying that Lily and Sonar deserved it! WTH! Probably the reason I felt instant gratification when Lilly pushed her into the water lol
Lilly and Sonar of course, I mean they were actually convincing and entertaining as the bad guys. But in the end, showing Nest surviving - I honestly don't know what the hell that was supposed to signify! I was just clueless when it happened. It's not because I was judging Nest in anyway, she had severe mental health issues especially Munchausen's syndrome and her bitch mother basically swept the incident under the rug and made her keep living as an invalid. So I get where she's coming from. She has no academic excellence, like Lyla, no talents - all she has is a disability that makes her 'special' even though if she'd only given Bew a chance instead of sticking in some ridiculous unhappy relationship with Mac, she would have found out that Mac wasn't the only one who didn't resent her for faking but Bew was like that too.
But despite the majority of the characters being irredeemable, somehow there was a time in their arcs where you did not only feel empathy for them but even sad.
Regardless it's a good horror show with lots of awesome gore and a entertaining storyline with some good direction and eye candy!

That ending was really poetic. I loved the show it's got one of the most interesting anti hero fl and I just fell for Ploy so hard ! She can act, she's just beautiful a total charmer.
SHE ROCKED THOSE PANTSUITS but also portraying a desperate, shallow, ballsy woman just so convincing.
And omg in that last scene in the wedding dress she looked so breathtaking it just broke me.
It would have been an easy 10 as far as lakorn/makjang goes, but where it failed for me personally - I'm sorry but the male lead just didn't work for me. The guy couldn't act, couldn't even show a good personality ffs it pissed me off every time he was on screen.
They HAD LANG SITTHA in the cast bro should have just given him this role cause the doctor / psychiatrist was the main male lead, but like I don't know was Lang gonna charge too much or there was a casting couch because why else would you take him in the leading role.
Basically Lang's character was so random, so pointless to the story, and yet because the doctor guy was such a disappointment I desperately waited for Reya and Paramet first, btw you could have taken that guy for this role! Nut was a good actor, and handsome!
Ugh the guy who played David wasn't great either but the thing is his role wasn't integral enough to be an issue so that didn't bug me much.
But honestly even without the male leads, the story was good and meaningful.
It was bugging me when I felt like the writers were judging her character just like the other characters calling her tramp, whore, just because she's not a virgin but the ending I feel like it was basically showing how awful people are to women who stand different and how this creates a cycle of grief and violence.
But man letting that old wench Chinese mom lol sorry I'm still a little pissed at her because not only does she survive but the people around her were like oh sure mom tried to ruin lives and covered heinous acts but she's family so whatreyou gonna do right?
And then there were also a ton of problems with the doctor guy ugh but anyway it's still something good if you like makjang melodrama lakorn and anti hero stories.
