This movie is a sheer masterpiece. It doesn't walk around cliches to force laughter and keep you engaged by trickery. It's a narrative that relies on visual story telling and dialog that will cut through your soul and force you to look at the world you keep ignoring.
It's not a coming of age story as much as the retelling of the very moment you become a pawn in someone else's game. The actors delivery is so on point, it becomes a grueling performance. It's the story of people who want to be heros, without realizing the sheer brutality of their world.
Ji Soo was the main lead, plays a young man who is not happy with his best friend's (Kim Junmyeon-Suho) decision to go to the military because of his grandmother's destitute financial situation. The entire first part is about Ji Soo convincing Suho not to go just yet so they can all go together. But Suho doesn't like the idea of his grandmother having to still work to pay for his tuition.
These two and two other boys also best buddies, all four of them decide to go on a drive and have a great time before their lives change forever and before they have to say goodbye to their friend for a long time. It's all kind of bittersweet and neither of them are able to convince Suho to stay.
They get drunk and are having a good time, when in their own car they see some odd movement in the car parked in front of them. Thinking the couple are making out, they all joke about it but suddenly the couple are outside the car and the man starts to viciously beat the woman.
Neither of them know what to do, and are cautious about getting out but Ji Soo has had enough of it and instead of listening to Suho, he ventures out and gets in the man's face stops him from hitting the woman. They start having an altercation and the other friends join in and they all try to get the man to stop but he continues to be violent and Ji Soo gets violent himself and it turns into a battle.
I feel like what happens next is something you should experience without spoilers.
All in all, this movie is a creative work of art that deserves more recognition and should not be avoided just because it's not a happy story.

I'm getting real tired of the slut shaming. Especially Stud's character ffs *SPOILER ALERT* HIS MOM DIES CAUSE HE SCREWS A RANDOM GUY.Calling people who don't have money and a job losers and judging people who want to have casual sex it just became too much. I honestly thought there was a little more character development this season but the overall shallow plot, and all this combined pissed me off. I couldn't really enjoy it.
At least WTD was bad in some ways but it has a better plot and characters and Stud is no Rambo.
Because Rambo did a lot of stupid shit but he loved Mew's character and you can feel his obsession, and honestly I hated Mew's character then for being a dick. Plus WTD skin ship makes you sweat lol I still go rewatch Mew Art and Both NewYear scenes there's even a three-way ffs xD whereas this was lacking in that department too.
And listen I don't just want bl couples from a BL either I watch plenty of het stuff especially romance I pretty much prefer Thai lakorn or series like Boy for Rent and Endless love 3 will be free but even the het couples in this one are just as lame and boring even the badass Boom was so tame this season. I don't get it.
The make out scenes were so basic.
That's why the low rating.

Honestly good idea but bland execution. Most of the supporting cast was over acting and the camera work was nothing exceptional and the script was really good at times but it seriously lacked the darkness it promises in the first few episodes. The way they did the shop it was brilliant, and every arc surrounding that mystery was really good but the rest was lukewarm at best.
I mean all my favorite actors they ruined the viewing experience especially Fiats story line was such a mess! What were they even thinking? He went from being a perp to being a victim so there should have given some explanation for his obsession with Mek's sister Prang but he would just conveniently pop up and then gone and even the way they decided to end his arc was just ridiculous and a complete waste of an actor and BLAND.
It's a horror drama ffs! And you show everything offscreen?! Then don't call it horror! Then Mek and his sister I was really into their story and the Ploy - Supasit plot was seriously so STUPID it bugged me and that was like most of the drama so WHAT THE ACTUAL F. And Supersits character was OBNOXIOUS which is fine if you want a one dimensional villain but then he keeps going all soft in the middle for his daughter like WHAT. Why are you giving this waste of space more screen time and you're asking me to buy his bs after what he did to Ploy?
And all the vigilante nonsense was just as boring and pure nonsense.
The only reason I stayed after the Fiat debacle was because in the last few episodes the plot became Toni-centric. And like I said the writing isn't even an issue it's the way they added so much boring stuffing. But I have to say that ending was ON POINT without a doubt. Clever, unique and twisted. Which is more than I can say for the rest of the show.

I really wasn't expecting it to end so good.
This is basically another memorable Dong Wook role, seriously, those last two episodes the way he was acting, was just incredible!
Si Wan too was just so good in the last two eps and they were brilliant, no doubt.
This drama is on par with Save Me as far as I'm concerned because the role played by Lee Jung Eun of the eccentric building owner Eom Bok Soon was just a beautiful performance like the cult leader preacher from Save Me. Honestly, it will give you chills and creep you out but the actor she played it so naturally. We all know an ahjumma like that right, nosey, and no respect for privacy and always making you uncomfortable and making you feel bad for something completely rational, basically the ultimate gaslighter.
But okay, I already said this before, it's not perfect and in the middle it sort of lost its place, for about two episodes but I don't need perfection.
I'm glad that they took a risk making something that would make some people uncomfortable because it's not a chaebol romance or comedy action procedural, they made something serious. That alone is commendable. But then they chose the right cast and except for the lull in the middle everything else was done well.
The plot twists were clever and unique. The dialog was brilliant! ! The camera work was ART and it's all so realistic the ambiance becomes a part of the storytelling. So, yes. I'm really happy with the way it ended.

So the plot twist fuccccccc I definitely liked this season more than second but season 1 is still my fave I'm afraid overall I don't think I can rate it higher than 7.
The one major issue I have with Voice is the lack of villain's screen time. It makes for a very average viewing.
Merely prolonging the case making the villain appear at the end after the countless episodes of only their "shadow" then however you deal with them makes it unsatisfactory.
That's my biggest gripe with the show.
Otherwise this season had a lot of gore and angst way more emotional than the second one.

I was crying so much when it ended!
Seriously Joseph did a fantastic job playing Wu Xie, one of my absolute FAVE ULT CHARACTERS and that's why the ending was so devastatingly beautiful and intense cause you know in your heart you're basically breaking up with the cast ㅜㅜ
And boy did he look SMOKING HOT in those shirts every time he took off his coats and sweaters, bruh those forearms, and just the way he's built he's FIT.
And okay I ASSURE YOU despite that Wuxie Ning story line THIS ONE IS SO MUCH GAYER LOL THAN OTHERS and I loved every second ^^
But okay now for my second favorite character, which used to be Fatty or Qi Ling - BLACK. I was HOOKED when Baron Chen played it in Providence and this time Liu Yu Nang aka Hou Du from long ballad played it so well! In fact both Liu Yu Nang and Yu Han as Xiao Han (Yu Chen) their bromance was just as epic as Xie - Qi Ling.
In fact, if I'm being completely honest I MIGHT HAVE DONE SOME WUXIE - XIAO HAN SHIPPING you know when they were solving the riddles together and getting angsty and hurt ㅜㅜ like that whole 'neither of our lovers are here tonight' vibe they had
And omg fatty and his mpreg jokes about Wu Xie doesn't he know he's just giving us ideas lol like that wouldn't even be Fatty's baby ffs okay I'll stop
Seriously well written script and the ending was so much more like a proper ending even though Xu Kennedy don't do proper resolution of arcs so by now I'm used to it, you know take it or leave it
Xu Kennedy loves leaving us stranded even his main 'bromance' is one naive sweet boy and a super hot ghoster ffs and Black is basically Qi Ling with one liners lol let's face it he ghosts the characters just as much.
So, after every season I have to break up with the cast and its brutal and this time it was no different! And I hated it.
Will for sure re watch again soon!

I was laughing my butt off when jinyong was acting like Sung woong I didn't think it could get better until Sung woong started acting like jinyoung lol
Perfect amount of angst, comedy, action, and real depth to the story and characters.
All the actors were great ofc they're veterans but I was legit proud of Jinyoungs acting!! Because he could have just been a pretty face but he really did every emotion and both the completely different personas convincingly.

So MIAO RONG GETS TO GO SCOT FREE AFTER ALL THE SHIT SHE PUT EVERYONE THROUGH AFTER CAUSING SO MUCH DAMAGE AND GETS AN HEA BUT ZHAO XIAO GETS PUNISHED?
See, it wouldn't have been a problem for me if they let her off because they wanted to show that evil people get away with things or something, but dude everyone else got punished but her!
The woman made The Princess's life hell, and was THE MAIN REASON A FIVE YEAR OLD BOY DIED OF FOOD POISONING, she was almost going to get Li Qian's sister get married to an evil person with several concubines, And even Li Qian was like no biggie, let's just put someone else in prison because she's a GIRL. I don't even know what level of stupidity this is. And why of all the people, Li Qian let her off! So much of what she did also directly ended up hurting him too!
And seriously Qing Tan was the only villain who was actually entertaining.
So yes, her character and Zhao Xiao's characters PETTINESS was the most frustrating thing for me. Like they wouldn't fucking DIE
And in general the writing is not that great, which is the main issue here. If they didn't have the budget to show the serious stuff in shows like Novoland and Long Ballad, they should have just made this a sweet romance and just focused on the couples which I really liked them all.
The problem for me at least, was the really petty squabbles being the main focus and poor Joseph didn't even get enough screen time toward the second half when literally him and Jing Yi were the reason I kept watching till the end.
And okay now that the rant is over lol I'll tell why I'm still rating it 7 and not lower.
So let's face it, Joseph Zeng gets a lot of criticism over his acting and I agree, before Ultimate Note, I understand the criticism, but seriously I saw him in Ultimate Note and the improvement in his acting made me fall in love with his version of Wu Xie and now after Zhu YiLong's Wu Xie his is my favorite version! That's how good he was especially after a few episodes.
But in this drama, HONEST TO GOD, the kind of CONFIDENCE and PASSION with which he was acting, made me so happy! Our baby's grown up now :') so yes, I'm literally just going to mention that. But his passion and dedication was wasted on the telenovela like storylines and general weakness of the writing. And my favorite moments were definitely the couples moments, but also when he gets tortured and hurt, ffs he broke my heart in those scenes much like he did in Ultimate.
So, that's all I have to say about this one. I just think you should watch it, if you like the actors.

I could watch Pure Folk for daayyyyyssss lolFiat his acting is so on point, his body language, the way he looks into Folks eyes - it just WORKS.
The acting in the show does get a bit overboard, overacting like the Mew Art story in WTD XD but honestly that didn't bother me then and it didn't bother me here. I can overlook these issues for a good plot and characterization.
But this one was just way too simplistic for me plot wise and even couple wise Pure Folk had waaaaay better kissing and just got me involved but the main couple were really lacking even though all the boys were really cute!
So, all in all not terrible but just okay.
And someone better be signing a petition somewhere for a Pure Folk spin off XD

Great family drama and bromance
Just loved this lakorn so much! And okay the male leads were both SO FREAKING GORGEOUS AND ONLY KEPT GETTING BETTER LOL buuut as far as I'm concerned I love the plot and the crime aspect and most of all the love hate bromance omg sooo mucccch feels !And sure you can argue that this isn't perfect when it comes to technical greatness but it's not shoddy either. Especially the fights and the action is done so well! But the thing that completely blew me was Pons acting okay.
He's so expressive! His dialog delivery, everything is on point. And also this show gave me another sls XD but at least they didn't completely destroy his character like most asian shows of this type, and they didn't completely make him evil.
And now, the problem I have.
The females lead okay I've seen worse acting so that didn't bug me. What did bug me, was her manipulative nature! Exhibit A - She's romantically involved with Santhrakat but she goes to KHIREE when she wants to get married!!!
Exhibit B - she's MAJORLY ROMANTICALLY INVOLVED WITH SANTHRA FKING KAT BUT SHE KISSES KHIREE - ON THE LIPS FULL ON - JUST TO KEEP HIM AROUND BECAUSE HER AND HER STUPID ASS MOM WHO BTW COULDN'T STAND KHIREE WHEN HE WAS POOR - let's face it her manipulative ways were what got Khiree in trouble in the first place! If she hadn't made him a target for the step father, her step father wouldn't have wanted to ruin the boy's life!
Second MAJOR THING THAT BUGGED ME TILL THE END - Why the hell didn't Khiree even ONCE tell people what really happened that night! This whole miscommunication bs was so pointless. It would have been ok if he'd done it for like a month or even two episodes but anything more was just so frustrating! Because how can anyone including his brother TRULY understand what that man did to him? They kept saying it was Khiree's fault and he NEVER ONCE corrected anyone that he didn't turn up at the wedding because he was being kidnapped and tortured!
Anyway those are all minor gripes and none of this changed my overall enjoyment of the show. Especially when they as a family kill the villain - was that cathartic af lol
So yes. Anyone has recs like this one please tell me XD
