How 'horror' is this? Cuz im a huuuuuge scaredy cat
Honestly most of the more traditionally scary-type stuff is packed into the first episode; if you can manage to get past that ep. π , it actually does get way less scary. (I mean, don't get me wrong, there are obviously still scary/life-threatening/etc. bits in all the other ep.'s afterwards, lol, but it's just that from ep. 2 onwards it's definitely not constant; a lot of the runtime of the show actually starts to just be more like character work and intriguing backstory/history stuff.) And as for the ghosts themselves, most of them look obviously not-alive, but it's not gross (well, again, aside from ep. 1, lol; they are a little bit more gross there π ), it's more just like people who are really pale with visibly dark veins lol. Obviously, you are the only one who can decide how much you can handle π , but again, the very first ep. is the scariest one by far, so if you can make it through that, you're totally good for ep.'s 2-4.
LOL at some of the comments here saying that the romance 'came out of nowhere'... seriously? I mean, I really don't like love triangles π , so I'm not defending that part of it (though it really kinda ended up more just like a mixed-gender harem around the ML than any sort of triangle anyway, LOL...), but if you've read like literally any shoujo manga ever, you would not only have already assumed that this show would have a romance between the FL and ML right from that duet scene that opens episode 1, but you ALSO would have clocked Sakamoto's tsundere backside IMMEDIATELY (I mean, come on, it was clear that he was a tsundere by episode 2 already, and his crush on the FL was glaringly obvious by episode 3, LOL)...
Let's just get to it: THE TIME TRAVEL. Are you kidding me?! So, we go through all that emotional turmoil, all…
(Pretty sure the future meet-cute after the credits was actually with the twin, not Victor - the cheek mole can distinguish.)
That said, yes I think we're pretty much all agreed that this was really bad, and honestly the uncut version is even worse... in the full uncut version, the main character himself actually dies as well, for no good reason whatsoever, AFTER the reset. So the series literally ends with the main character dead.
Please note that this is the theatrical cut version; however, there is also an uncut version that was released on home media that has 30 more minutes of footage (and makes much more sense as a result)! (Just submitted that entry to the database~ :) )
Okay, I'm getting real tired of this cult-like baseless hate-train I keep seeing anytime Dunk does literally anything. Everyone who keeps on spewing hate towards Dunk on every single one of his projects needs to stop hate-watching everything he does for the sake of their own mental health at this point, because what even is the point of putting yourself through watching everything he's in if you supposedly really can't stand him that much? π€¦ββοΈ I'm not a Dunk stan or anything (in fact, I'm really more of a Joong fan, myself - I adore Joong's real-life personality π₯°); however, the way I always see some people going after Dunk in such petty, ad-hominem ways is just vile (and stupid to boot). No one's saying the dude is a god-tier-level actor, but I've seen a lot of bad acting elsewhere over the years and I can tell you that Dunk is not bad at all - he's actually perfectly decent at his job - and any problems you have with him personally that for some reason so fill you with hatred that you feel the need to plaster that crap everywhere every time you see his face is a reflection on YOU, not him. I say this with all sincerity: If this is you, please, get help. You need to work those anger issues out, preferably via some kind of therapy, as soon as possible - for the sake of your own health, if nothing else.
ANYWAY, back to comments about the actual show: Dunk was just as freakin' PERFECTLY cast for his role in this show as all the other 3 mains were, and I for one had the time of my life watching the first episode. Gonna completely ignore the incredibly stupid fan wars / rating shenanigans from here on out and just enjoy the rest of the ride~ βοΈβοΈ
it was just Joong trolling ppl in live as usual lol I find it hilarious that some ppl on twitter believed him
No need to drag other (unrelated) shows in the comments of this one. (Also, do note that before airing, We Are literally had to completely reshoot a massive chunk of the entire series all over again due to having to replace one of its original actors *after* they'd already completed most of the original filming; I think they did admirably well with everything, considering the circumstances.)
