The story of Pete and Vegas is about forgiveness and redemption. I don’t think it brushed off rape. Pete forgave Vegas. Vegas redeemed himself. That’s the way the story went. The reader or watcher can enjoy their story arc and still understand what Vegas did was wrong and fucked up. I dont think this story romanticized or glamorized rape. Am I the only one who feels that way?

I wondered about how much is based on western perspective. I’m from the US and have been watching Asian content, including Thai BL for many years. I remember the difficulty I had understanding Thai humor or other cultural nuance until I saw some YouTube videos by lazysubber who put a lot of effort into dumbing it down for westerners. Separating the series from the book, which we should be here, consent doesn’t apply in this scene. As you said, both had been drinking. Anyways, this scene and their relationship is much deeper then a storybook romance with one dimensional characters and clear right/wrong tropes. It’s about having the courage to be vulnerable with someone. Their entire relationship is about finding what’s missing in their lives in one another, trust and how strong two people can become when they open up. I also feel that people are bitching just to bash. It’s a gray story with gray characters which is what I like about it. That and it’s sexy as hell and hilarious.
I’m so annoyed with those who bitch about being uncomfortable with the kiss scene because it was not consensual. At this point it’s quiet clear that Kinn & Porsche are vibing tho it def is stronger on Kinn’s side. Porsche is so damn charming and alluring when he is drunk and he was so affectionate. You can argue whether or not he was intentionally flirting but it was a very intimate scene and his petting of Kinn, leaning his head on Kinn’s shoulder, saying he’d last been that happy a moment ago, meaning with Kinn, and thanking Kinn for not making him fight alone….Kinn was encouraged to muster his nerve and shoot his shot. Love, romance & intimacy aren’t black and white. Someone has to take a risk and make a move. I thought Kinn was brave and sexy. I loved that he coaxed Porsche into kissing him back. I hope Porsche remembers and doesn’t retreat but their slow dance towards each other is so well done I am confident I’ll be happy where this goes.
