Just like how Papa Xie stole each scene in Spring of the Blade, Li San stole every scene in Shadow Punisher.
What an incredibly complex and interesting character and the actors portrayal was masterful, a joy to watch!

Our famous 4 all have such fantastic wardrobes but I can’t help but prefer Meng Rui’s. He’s so handsome.

I enjoyed it but I felt it was too short, like it needed a few more eps because the last 5 eps were too rushed. But also, it felt like the plot dragged on and on over Old Madam and Papa Xie’s resolution. But there were somehow loose ends.

And they neutered the romance as soon as the wedding was done. There was so much smoldering chemistry between the leads then nothing but a fade to black as Shen Run carried her to the bridal bed. I feel deprived.

I want to see the actor that plays crazy Papa Xie in more roles. He is super talented.

Two lingering questions that I have are: 1. Is Commissioner Hu the mastermind? If so, seems kinda anticlimactic and 2. Who the heck is Feng En? Did I miss that explanation somewhere?

6 eps to go and I can already affirm that I will be rewatching this drama over and over again. The Character Shen Run, and Xu Kai’s incredible portrayal, are reason enough.

The way Shen Run crashed that wedding, proposed to Qingyuan and restored her dignity was one of the most romantic things I’ve ever seen in a cdrama. And I credit Xu Kai’s superior acting talent for it. How he makes his eyes go wide eyed with awe and yearning, while his voice is velvety and earnest is beyond moving. Then he flips a switch and he is fierce and domineering the next. Gah! He’s one of the most talented actors of his time from China and that’s a hill I’d die on.

I love this show even with all the seemingly never ending chaotic drama coming from that Xie family. The sheer audacity and criminality of how they behave is stunning. Xie Shu’s big secret for one. The way they not only stole Qingyuan s wedding but then had the audacity to try to strip her of all dignity, publicly, in the process for another. There is no ending foul enough for this despicable clan.

Foot note: the nuptial dinner is as so cute. Both Shen Run and Qingyuan were so shy with each other and you could literally watch the roller coaster ride of emotions cycling across Shun run’s face lol. I cannot wait for the wedding night. We know they’re going to tear up the sheets.

Agreed. This one ep a day cadence has been torture.

Just finished ep 10 and I must say after watching hundreds of historical cdramas, I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a patriarch as sinister and psychotic as Papa Xie. This dude is scary.

I love this drama so much. Xu Kai and Zhuo Ye are absolutely devouring with these roles. The entire Xie Family with the exception of the Oldest sister and her weak Mother are sinister people. I haven’t even met Papa Xie yet but from the previews I know he’s a bad guy.
But I just love the chemistry between the leads. It’s so well written and the fact that they are both equally conniving is fun.

Decided to dive in tonight. 39 mins into episode 1 and I’m sobbing.
