A thought provoking drama that you should watch

Likes:
- I love how much the drama focuses on the coflicts among different institutions/parties/factions of the whole disaster. It's really unique as most disaster films/shows mainly focus on the disaster itself and its destruction. You can really see how much work and how difficult to organise the whole rescue operation.
- The characters are very compelling. The actors act out their parts really well. You can feel that every decision made is something the character would do and someone in real life might made in the situation. Nobody really feels like the bad guy. You can stand in their shoes and see why they did what they did.
- The whole story is especially relatable in today's climate. The hopelessness in parts of the story is conveyed well.

Dislikes:
- The ending feels slightly rushed compared to the show. I previously hoped that they would delve more into the aftermath of the disaster. Not the destruction but what the government would continue to do.
- Some plotpoints should be either omitted or have enough time to really flesh them out, though I do understand what the show is going for.

You should watch this show if:
- You enjoy the political/logistic side of things in films/shows regarding major events.
- You enjoy the shows with a (environmental) message to tell.
- You want to understand how you, we might be impacted in climate change.

Highly recommend!!

A long episode of the drama

Note:
- I have read the manga volumes of the story the movie is based on. Hence my opinions will likely be skewed.

Likes:
- Feels like an extra long episode of the show. If you like the show, you will probably like this.
- High concentration of Totonou's appearance
- It is a very self-contained movie. It does not require audience to recall minor plot points of the drama while distinctly understood it itself is also an extension, leaving season 2 as a likely possibility.

Dislikes:
- Similarly while I do like it being self-contained, I also found myself wanting to see the continuation of the main series. though I am certainly someone waiting for a season 2.
- Certain acting can be slightly awkward.
- The movie cut out certain plot points from the original story, which I think would have helped to land the ending better.

I liked the drama.

I liked the concepts and most characters are likeable towards the end. The twist in episode 8 was pretty nice surprise. The portion focusing on their lives after the twist is a nice touch and stood out to me. Their despair, trying to save people seem out to harm them, is surprisingly pretty realistic. I also love how they deepened the characterisation for other characters, not just the main three. It really made it easier to root for the group overall.

Sadly, I found the romantic storyline to be slightly too much. It's not really a love triangle, just that there are way too many scenes for my liking. Maybe it's because I binged the whole thing in 2 days, so everything muddled together. I also think that there are some storyline that are unresolved or not satisfying (e.g., wagon 6?!). And it can be pretty "chicken soup", which is nothing unfamiliar in JDramas.

But all in all, it's a pretty nice watch. Recommend.
