Hello everyone, I'm Forgotten_Soul! ^.^

After having found to Anime in 2012, I only watched my first K-Drama I hear your voice in 2019. Now I'm all hooked up on Asian culture in general - and a lot more busy than I was back then, so my PTW grows without me ever getting a chance to catch up.

My favourite K-Drama so far has been Law School. And if you ever find a revenge drama better than The Glory, please let me know, because I don't even think it was that good, but also haven't found anything even remotely better.

My favourite Chinese Drama has to be Hidden Loveit literally stole my heart and now I won't be able to love any other drama like this again.

My favourite J-Drama is Hokago Karte

Still waiting on  developing a liking for Thai and Filipino Dramas, so if you have any recommendations, hit me up!

My preferred genres and criteria change with my capacities, so let's say I'm open for anything, just not at any moment. Also, I'm a mood watcher with No Drop Disease which makes for an awesome combination.

My list:

Currently Watching = Genuinely like these and will take my time to watch

On-Hold = Not bad, but not in the mood/ will watch in-between or when doing other things

Dropped = Moral issues/not available for streaming/not in the mood and doubt I'll get into the mood any time soon
Not Interested = Not available/Hard pass/Nothing stirred my interest
Plan to watch = Literally every drama I ever encountered that didn't fit the above categories

Inconsistency is my biggest consistency, hence my rating system will only make sense if you're living inside my brain (which I don't recommend, it's messy). Instead, I try writing reviews whenever I find proper wording to express my thoughts, those give you a lot clearer insight of what I liked (or didn't like) about a drama.

Some general guidelines:

0.5 added: only lacking minor issues to get the next score; full score: lacking issues too fundamental to ever get close to the next highest score

5 = Bare minimum fulfilled. Anything below was seriously lacking things I consider fundamental. I rarely finish series below this and I do not rate series I didn't finish.

5-6.5 = Not worth my time, but had at least one element I thought was (very) well-made

7-8 = A nice watch, but lacking in important aspects

9 = Almost perfect, but was either lacking in a lot of smaller issues or showed one big issue I couldn't overlook

10 = I did not see any issue or was able to overlook all issues presented due to how much I liked it

PS: I'm getting more critical with my ratings the more I watch. It's fairly easy to disappoint me. If you're rather 'disappointment-proof', don't feel offended by any rating I give. Talk about it, share your enthusiasm with me! Same goes of course if you think I'm rating too nicely, but that issue might fix itself with increasing drama watching experience.

Rating will differ on the drama`s "intention" and circumstances (i.e. format, genre, budget, target group), my expectations as well as my enjoyment while watching and the aftertaste after finishing. Those will be added onto a more "objective" view by following criteria.

Things I look out for:
  • Characters, their chemistry & their development (main and side)
  • Music (composition & use)
  • Story (plot & pacing)
  • Acting
  • Facts & knowledge
  • Setting
  • Potential fulfilment

Things I barely look at because I wouldn't know what I'm saying anyways:

  • Camera (angles, movement, pacing)
  • Editing
  • Make-up and costume
  • More detailed acting
  • Facts & knowledge I have no clue about

Things I love:

  • Green flag/Healthy relationships (of any kind, not just romantic)
  • Complex plot/relations/characters
  • No or minor plotholes only
  • Great OST used well
  • "Realistic" display of emotions, reduced drama

Things I can only bear in small doses:

  • Love triangles
  • Love rivals going rogue
  • Couple angst
  • Second chance relationships
  • Amnesia
  • Time travel
  • Screaming/yelling
  • Plotholes
  • Violence/Gore
  • High drama
  • Clichés and tropes
  • Misinformation
  • Things that would be considered red flags irl but seem cool and romantic on TV

Things I can't stand:

  • Onedimensional antagonists
  • Characters acting out of character
  • Main characters without a grain of integrity
  • Overuse of clichés and tropes
  • False information on important matters
  • Red flags
  • Big plotholes/inconsistencies

I'm looking forward to making new friends, share recommendations or discuss dramas you watched, so feel free to leave me a comment or friend request!

If you see anything on my On-Hold, Dropped or Not Interested (or my Plan to watch) you think I should watch: try and convince me! If you're wondering about one of my ratings and I haven't written a review, feel free to ask! :)
