I think you might be off here completely. The slave holder mentioned to GC he has never seen a husband coming…
Sitting on my comfortable couch in my own flat in my peaceful country, I totally agree with you. I would have bravely fought for my love, and I also would have killed all barbarians myself because I'm a great fighter. I feel it, so it must be true. I used to do martial arts many decades ago but the sad reality is that I'm now a weak woman who is currently fairly fat. I would like to claim how brave and heroic I was but I have a rather realistic view on things including myself. I don't care about karma points, and I find virtue signaling fairly pathetic.

Also, I know my share of cheaters who didn't cheat on me but who told me their "love stories" which often included them to be heroes who saved some female from a relationship (read: the other guy was too boring, and the female was too selfish to leave him before having a new guy in her life). Some stories even included friends who helped the cheaters. To me, Goo Won-moo's reaction made sense.

Random women are not necessarily noble women. Both Yeon-jun and Goo Won-moo might have known about the random women but probably not about the noble women because, otherwise, they would not have allowed their wives to leave the house anymore. If you know a bit about Korean history, you know that most women were worthless slaves. Only a few were a bit more valuable: noble women. Almost nobody dared to touch a noble woman because she usually belonged to a powerful man, either husband or father or both.

Rather reasonable trust issues. His almost-wife ran away with her actual lover right before the marriage. Then…
That she keeps her promise to be a good wife. A good wife doesn't run away with her lover. I think that's what most decent people agree on: Faithfulness is important in a relationship.

Hi, I’m watching Arthal also and I Love the drama. But let me say I find it unecessary to come to the main page…
Omg, somebody wrote he doesn't like this drama as much as another one, so he must be a hater? For some people, only black and white exists, and they seem to believe they are mind readers and clairvoyants.

I'm enjoying this show and I loved the first part, but as a viewer, I really don't like being lied to. I can understand…
Good grief! I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that and not the only one who was bothered by that. I was so confused, and I really don't like to be lied to. While I understand that the writers want to build up tension, there are other ways to do that without having to include misleading scenes.

An inferior king and a naive crown prince 👏
Is he really naive? Actually, he seems to have learnt a lot since his first appearance in part 1. We don't learn much about him, though, but we know that he seems to be learning the enemy's language and trying his best to be a good crown prince, protecting his father. The king does not appreciate what he does.

Women had so little value, you’d think one man would’ve come forward and said “make a law forbidding the…
There certainly were men who wanted more rights for women but most men were lowly peasants or even slaves. If you read about Asian history, you'll notice that there were only a few people who had power. They fought and killed each other, and every few decades, there was a "purge". Or there was a war.

Back then women were basically worthless because one woman could produce multiple children including more women who could produce more children including more women, and so on. Unlike women, men cannot duplicate themselves. For this reason, it makes sense that there were basically no rights for women back then because most men didn't have any rights either. Nowadays, you can see the same in other overpopulated countries where women produce more than 2 children. And in certain other countries you can see that women become more valuable because female children were aborted or abandonned, and there are more men than women now.

Learning how to fight wasn't possible either because most women were poor peasants or slaves, and they had multiple children (often 6+). There was no time to learn how to fight because they had to take care of the children and they also had to work. In part 1, you could see that even men were basically incapable of fighting. Oh, and people were constanly dying from various illnesses, which is something this drama does not show either.

I think you might be off here completely. The slave holder mentioned to GC he has never seen a husband coming…
At first, he did not know that she was kidnapped. Then ML's friend claimed that she was kidnapped, which sounded like a lie to him. Why would he believe ML's friend who he doesn't know well? He wasn't aware that the barbarians also take non-escapees including noble women with them. Him going after FL when he heard about the kidnapping, thinking it was a lie, would have implied that he would kill FL's actual love or maybe even FL instead of letting them escape. I mean if he think that the kidnapping was a lie and FL ran away again to be with FL, what do you think he would have done if he found them? Wishing them all the best?

Don't forget that he took her back even though she ran away with FL and spent the night with ML. He still married her and treated her well while being well aware that he is "just" the husband, not somebody she loves. I think he is somebody who does love FL and who wants to live in a dream with her. He seems to hate lies, though, which is probably the reason why he told her that he doesn't mind if she secretly loves somebody else as long as she's his faithful wife.

I found his reaction very relatable in part 2, and I'm very curious what will happen when he finds her. I think he'll die a heroic death while protecting her.

I don't think she has slept with him yet. The woman at that Qing's house says she's "clean" probably implying…
I think she simply avoids having to sleep with him if possible. In ep. 11, there is a scene where the husband asks her whether he should come home earlier to stay with her, which implies that he wanted to spend the night with her. It didn't sound as if it was the first time. They both knew what it meant.

I hate how Goo Won Moo immediately accused Yoo Gil Chae of running away with her lover. She gave up to the love…
Rather reasonable trust issues. His almost-wife ran away with her actual lover right before the marriage. Then she came back as if nothing had happened, he married her anyway. It would have been ridiculous if he had not thought about the possibility that she had run away again.

This drama was better than I expected it to be. Jun Ji-hyun is so adorable and funny. Without her, Cheon Song-yi would have been insufferable.

Even though the story was fairly predictable and the ending felt as if the writers had to come up with a quick solution, I found the drama quite entertaining. I just wished it had less episodes because the last ones felt very draggy. 16 episodes would have been sufficient.

Title My Dearest Part 2 Spoiler
My understanding is quiet different regarding Gil Chae. She loves him but not enough to leave everything and everyone…
We also must not forget that she thought for months that ML was dead. When she finally found the strenght to move on with her life and to look for happiness again, he literally popped up out of nowhere when she was almost married. Of course, being with him again felt tempting but she knows very well that ML has got a rather unstable life. She knows that she couldn't be happy with him forever because there were too many unsolved problems in his but also her own life. He could be gone again just a few days later, and than she would haven been on her own again without any place to go. Staying with the friendly, reliable guy who provides for her family and her, and who's got a stable life, was the best decision.

A hell lot of people are cursing Gil Chae.Even I was not an admirer of her during the first few episodes. But I…
I, too, agree with you. She's an interesting character because she's not the typical "good" and flawless heroine. She's selfish but she is not overly greedy. Unlike other characters, she does not betray anybody just to become richer. She does not mistreat poor people. Her decisions are often rational, which I like best about her. It would have been easy to opt for temporary happiness and escape with a man she loves but she knew that she would not be able to be happy leaving her family and friends behind without knowing whether they'll be safe.

I'm looking forward to her character development.

She didn't come to qing, she was kidnapped 🙂
Yes, having an affair or just being "tainted" is sufficient to get punished. Especially the latter was adressed multiple times in the first part of this drama, and it has also been adressed in ep. 11 (= ep. 1 of part 2), so I expect this will be a part of Gil-jae's story.

What Raryan Eom has for ML is love, he loves him, in a romantic way...it is not some war love or as comrade boys…
What queerbaiting? Straight women have enjoyed forbidden gay love for many years, and producers know that very well.

Which drama are you referring to? Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung? I found him fairly creepy in the first few episodes because of his creepy smiles that probably were supposed to look cute. He got better in the last episodes, maybe because he got used to his role and felt more comfortable.

[Edit:] Oh my, I just noticed that I pasted the same title twice. The second drama was supposed to be "My ID is Gangnam Beauty". I'm editing my previous comment. :/

um I'm not finished yet, I'm on episode 11. but why does this have so many bad comments? I'm not a fan of either…
The first few episodes were good (in my opinion) but the last few episodes were lacking ideas, and the writers added unnecessary drama "out of the blue" to fill the void.

I don't know about the other actors but Lee Jun-ho acted in "The Red Sleeve", which was a significantly better drama than this one because it had a solid story. It's not a pure romance drama, though.

I will take being called a hater. I was hoping he would prove me wrong but he didn't. Rookie Historian Goo Hae…
I liked him in Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung and in My ID is Gangnam Beauty. Especially in the latter drama, it was quite clear that he was just supposed to be good-looking without any relevant traits of character (except for "nice", maybe). He fits the role of the handsome statue very well but I'm still hoping that he also develops relevant acting skills as he won't be young forever.

I recently watched the first episode of "Island" and I was surprised to see the same flawless, good-looking character which didn't fit the asthetics and situation of the drama at all. He seems to play the exact same role in each drama. I'm not even sure if that's just due to his limited acting skills or if the directors explicitely ask for that.
