only watch it because of yoona and junho. idk if i can continue this drama... its so not my cup of tea anymore,…
If you favour fluffiness over a solid story, keep watching. If you expect anything else from this drama and are already bored, you'll probably get disappointed.
MDL ratings are fake, how else can you explain how there are no dramas with rating 5 or lower?
From what I see in the comments of dramas with popular actors, their fans give the highest rating, no matter how bad the drama is. It's impossible to tell whether the rating is manipulated or not.
I wouldn't call this drama trash. It's average and has got the typical dragging last episodes like many other K-dramas. However, there were many romantic scenes fans of romcoms certainly certainly enjoyed.
It’s not just me! I rated this bad boy a whooping 9/10 and raved about it in my notes… it’s only been a…
I remember the "gay" scene between the ML and his friend at the beginning of the drama, and how much I adored ML's friend's great hair in the following episodes. And how sexy FL's best friend found ML's best friend. I don't remember ML and FL, though.
It's interesting that moslems demand free propagada for their religion even though the character never stated…
The drama wasn't about religion. You don't know if Samir is a follower of your religion. I agree with you, though, if Samir was supposed to be a moslem, they should have been respectful and true to the religion. Perfect examples are here in swimming pools in Western Europe. New Year's Eve is also a good choice. They should have used those moslems for inspiration. If those were not perfect examples, I'm wondering why you are complaining about one fictional character instead about the thousands of famous ambassadors of islamic and Arab culture in our Western swimming pools. Don't worry, though, I know quite a bit about your religion, not just what I see in the news. :)
And no, Samir was not depicted as a dunkard. Drinking alcohol is not equal being a drunkard. And this is coming from someone who doesn't drink alcohol. Samir also wasn't depicted as a moslem because that would have made him less likeable due to certain real life associations. He was likeable because he was funny in his weird way, and he had an interesting friendship going on with ML.
Isn't the nightclub scene in ep. 7? I think I watched it only yesterday. It was just a few seconds long when Won…
Heftig!
Well, whatever, one more reason to "like" certain people.
You guys would be crying rivers if it was any other culture being disrespected, but when muslims want a better…
It's interesting that moslems demand free propagada for their religion even though the character never stated something like "I'm a true follower of Islam and do everything exactly as my prophet Mohammad demanded of me, the perfect ambassador of Islam and Arab culture". You are making him islamic yourself.
I haven't watched the drama but I've seen some comments saying that his character is sweet so it's fine I think?…
What is "their culture"? At the moment, a lot of Arab culture happens in German swimming pools. Should they have shown something like that instead? No, Samir did not claim to represent his country, culture or whatever. He was just some rich business man doing business and having a bit fun. Also, they didn't bring an actor, let alone one from a _certain_ country. They just casted an actor who lives in Korea, who is fluent in Korean, who already acted in many Korean dramas and who looked somewhat Arab. Korea is a little country. You won't find many foreign actors there who are also fluent in Korean.
Yes, please do watch the episodes and form your own opinion. In my personal opinion, Samir was a funny and sweet character. He looked Arab enough for a Korean drama. (It's not like this is a Hollywood blockbuster with a big budget.)
You might overlook representation of Russians in dramas...
What? Nobody knew Ukrainians until recently. The evil white guys were/are usually Russians or Germans. In Western European movies and series, the evil white guys are usually Russians (mafia) or Italians (mafia) or Germans (nazis). US-Americans are always the heros. ;)
I started watching the drama only yesterday, I saw the headlines of the controversy but didn't look into it in…
Isn't the nightclub scene in ep. 7? I think I watched it only yesterday. It was just a few seconds long when Won called Samir to invite him to his hotel. There wasn't anything special about that scene. You see scenes like that in every other Western series. The only difference is that the character was an Arab this time. At no point did the drama claim that Samir represented an entire culture, nation, religion or whatever.
I found him quite funny, especially in ep. 8. He was like a puppy looking for love, and he was also respectful in his weird way. He even learnt Korean!
@Sakura, you are absolutely right. We should send those ignorant people newspaper articles, so they can properly educate themselves on Arab culture. At the moment, a lot of Arab and islamic culture happens in open-air swimming pools in Western Europe. It's a shame that those Koreans ignored this completely and opted for some rich Arab prince who "represents" maybe 0.00001% of the Arabs on this planet. Oh, the Arab prince in this drama even learnt Korean, which is not realistic at all.
Fiction is fiction. And the main problem is that many people cannot tell the difference between fiction and reality anymore.
I dont need to get into the details but the various messages of this show to the viewers kind of left a weird…
The problem with "the West" is that we feel so self-righteous that we see black and white only, especially in the USA. ML is wary of other women? That must be hate because it's not love. There is absolutely no other explanation such as being wary of woman because he is usually stalked by every other woman. No, no, must be hate because it's an Asian drama, which is morally inferior compared to the superior Western moral.
Sorry but the love story is the most implausible part of this drama. The way ML is swooning over FL in nearly…
I agree with you. When ML suddenly started to like her, I was like "wait a second, did I miss something here?". I wished they had invested 2-3 more episodes to develop the feelings.
Regarding the rest, well, those are typical tropes in rom-coms. I usually don't like them but I find this drama watchable. (There's currently no alternative to watch.)
This drama got released in 2020. How on earth were you able to watch 300 dramas within 2-3 years?
Uuuuuh, I watch a LOT of dramas. That's why I was curious if you managed to complete 300 dramas within 1000 days. That's 1 drama every 3 days. Let's say you only watch short dramas with 16 episodes, that's about 5-6 episodes per day. Each episode is about 1h long, so you have to watch at least 5-6h per day for 1000 days.
By watching, I mean actively watching, not "the dramas run in the background while I am doing other things". If you meant the latter, I understand why you are able to complete a drama every 3 days.
That's a common trope, not just in K-dramas. Toxic FL (or ML) and a nice counterpart who discovers the loveliness…
Omg, you are right. I completely forgot that the synopsis claimed the FL had APD. It was one of the reasons why I hesitated to watch this drama because it sounded like "Sexy ML heals FL's mental illnesses via true love". Eww. Being rude, selfish and arrogant does not automatically man APD.
I agree regarding the ending. It was refreshing to see that FL wasn't suddenly a good person but that she worked on herself to become a better person. She also did not make herself depend on ML.
Regarding the ML, I'm afraid that I don't remember anything about him except that he's supposed to be nice and good-looking. I don't know if it was due to the actor or because the character didn't have any special traits or development.
If ML had been ugly, FL probably would not have been interested in him. ^^
I have just finished watching great blend of drama/comedy bit of mystery and not too much romance 9 out 10.I have…
You are aware that both can be true: being a toxic bitch and having mental issues due to a bad childhood, aren't you? Or do you also excuse murderers with 'well, he actually didn't murder but had a bad childhood, which was explained in this drama, his behaviour makes sense, so he cannot be a murderer, the people just happened to die when he had the knife, which is a pure coincidence because he had a bad childhood, even the director said so'?
I wouldn't call this drama trash. It's average and has got the typical dragging last episodes like many other K-dramas. However, there were many romantic scenes fans of romcoms certainly certainly enjoyed.
