Title My Dearest Part 2 Spoiler
The princess storyline disappoints me, she is just being used as a stereotypical villian when she could've been…
It was implied in the latest episode that she's going to get married off. She just refuses to believe it even though she know it's very likely going to happen. Lee Jang-hyun knows that. At least, he looked as if he knew.

I'm so glad that Gil-chae was apparently defilated by the barbarians. It makes this drama special because, in other dramas, the FL always keeps her chastity and remains "pure", so ML and viewers don't have any problem with her. In this drama, we learnt what it meant for women back then when they returned from the barbarians. Not caring about other people's opinions and staying with the woman one loves or one had married required a strong character.

Gil Chae, Gil Chae, Gil Chae, no need to go to these lengths when Gu Jam is around😅, Jang Hyun will find out...…
I agree. How could he promise that when he knows that he needs to go back to his princess? I doubt that he'll abandon those people he left behind. And if he did, I doubt Gil-chae would be happy if he knew that he did that for her.

Title The Devil Judge Spoiler
Is this really "Censored Adaptation Of Same-Sex Original Work" ?
Well, the male boss let his hot male employee sleep in his villa, and he enters his guest's room in a sexy bathrobe FOR WHATEVER REASON. If I remember correctly, he did something similar in multiple scenes. The original must have had some BL/gayness going on because those scenes definitely were not inserted by accident. Multiple people gave their ok for those scenes including Ji Sung who's not some newcomer. He knows well how to portray different types of character and how th result will look on screen. It's unlikely that asll those people watched the scenes and thought: Yes, that's how totally straight males become familiar with each other, no homo, of course.

While the rest of the story was without any obvious inconsistencies, Kang Yo-han suddenly stopped wearing hot bathrobes in front of his male employee, and they suddenly acted as if those scenes in earlier episodes had never happened. No explanation for anything. To me, that felt as if somebody told the creators to remove the gayness, not as if this obvious inconsistency had been part of the original script.

The purpose of marriage, especially in historical/period dramas, is producing a male heir and more offspring, preferably male. Captain Gu was quite busy while Gil-chae was away.

You are partly right. Nowadays, they are able to talk about what happened to them but most victims are already dead. At least, that's the case in Germany. I don't know about the victims in other countries.

Here is an example. The interesting part is the reaction of the German readers in 1959 compared to 2003. Just a few decades ago, "we" were just like those people in the K-drama.

Title My Dearest Part 2 Spoiler
To be fair, at the very beginning, Officer Gu had his moments. He returned to pick Gil Chae up at the Ganghwa…
So true. I'm disappointed in Captain Gu. It is as if the writers felt he became too much of a character and decided to make him one-dimensional, so ML can easily outshine him. Personally, I enjoyed the contrast between Captain Gu and Lee Jang Hyun in part 1 because Gu was the "reliable/boring man" in Gil-chae's life while Lee was the "hot but unreliable/mysterious one". Now Gu is just like the rest.

Regarding Ryang Eum, I feel the same. His motivation is clear, and his reaction makes perfect sense to me. He want's ML for himself and the old life back. Of course, he tries to get rid of FL but he cannot kill her because of ML. I hope his character will get developed further.

And I'm wondering why the score of this magnificent drama is below 9.
In my opinion, this drama has got a pretty good rating. Also, this website is full of people who rather enjoy romcoms (see all popular shows) or "famous person looking good on screen". And let's not forget the armies of fans of certain actors who watch and upvote literally everything in which their respective favourite actor got a role.

This drama is is fairly brutal and sad, which is not as popular on this website as cute romcoms.

Don't pay too much attention to the exact rating. If you enjoy this drama, enjoy it, and don't make your opinion and personal taste depend on numbers on some website. :)

It was mentioned a few times in earlier episodes that captured women were expected to kill themselves because they were a shame to Joseon. A woman coming back cannot prove that she is still "pure".

It was exactly the same in Western countries after, for example, WW I and WW II. Women slept with the enemy (for various reasons) or were raped, and they were shunned or even harassed by the "pure" people around them. See, for example, "horizontal collaboration" on Wikipedia. Or "Rhineland Bastard" where the result was obvious.

When the Russians came and raped thousands of German women, the result was not obvious but if it was known that you were raped, you were a fallen woman. Same in other countries, of course, but I heard horrible stories by old German women who were either raped by the enemies or who knew women who suffered and aborted with clothes hangers after being raped by an enemy. (I attended an "interesting" birthday party of an 90 yo woman a few years ago, and suddenly she and her older friends told us younger people all kinds of disturbing stories.)

After WW II, those stories were a huge taboo in Germany (and the rest of Europe), and everybody tried to keep it a secret. Nowadays, we are able to talk about it because women are not worthless anymore just because they are not virgins anymore or just because they were raped.

The only difference between East Asia and Europe is that suicide has been a taboo here while, in East Asia, it is/was an accepted solution for various problems. Here, nobody would have told a raped woman that she should kill herself. It was expected that she disappeared somehow, so the rest could pretend that nothing has ever happened.

Gil Chae must feel like such a dumbass marrying Goo Won Moo what a fucking coward btw and already has another…
So true. Even though she knew that he abandonned her, she was faithful to him until the end. He doesn't deserve her.

Very underwhelming compared to the original French movie. The comedy was rather immature, the romance basically not there. The French movie wasn't the best romcom either but, at least, it had some unpredictable moments. Unlike this movie. It's okay, though, if you just want to watch a some silly romcom. The actors did their best, so it's not a complete fail.

then stop watching
It's quite surprising that you enjoyed part 1 as most episodes of part 1 contained "doom, gloom, slavery and torture". Not sure what you expected of part 2.

Person Lee Dong Wook
Fell for him in 'My Girl'... Ironically, I no longer like him now he got all the surgeries and his face is "flawless".But,…
Good grief. I only watched newer dramas with him and found his face so creepy wondering why he is so popular. I've just checked 'My Girl'. His old face was completely different and quite handsome. I hope he doesn't destroy himself further. :(

I have absolutely zero biais when it comes to this actor, actually didn't know him before this, so I'm completely…
Everybody is aware of Cha Eun-woo's limited acting skills but in a webtoon romcom, looking as handsome as possible is usually more important than everything else. He wasn't randomly casted. In "A good day to be a dog", he has got a few more facial expressions than he had in other dramas I watched, so I hope that we'll see more character development and improved acting.

This is my first drama with him and after 2 episodes I think he's doing fine. In fact, I'm even slightly impressed…
I agree. I watched other dramas with him and hoped that he'll improve his acting skills. In this drama here, it was nice to see that he had a few more expressions that involved more than 1-2 muscles in his face and didn't just show this plastic/botox face around. I hope he keeps working on his skills and does not hold himself back fearing that he might look ugly if he doesn't show his approved facial expressions.

worst actor.....same charactere in every show he is in
It's probably secret knowledge but an actor is not equal his role. There is a lot to criticise about Cha Eun-woo's limited acting skills but it is not his fault that he's casted for the same roles.

Hi, I’m watching Arthal also and I Love the drama. But let me say I find it unecessary to come to the main page…
I'm relieved to read that. Unfortunately, you are a rare exception. If you read the comment section below a drama with a popular, young and got actor in it, you'll know why I misinterpreted your comment. You replied to Dinny criticising the other user for comparing this drama to another one. There was no indicator that you meant it as a joke.

Title My Dearest Part 2 Spoiler
Rather reasonable trust issues. His almost-wife ran away with her actual lover right before the marriage. Then…
This story does not play in the 21st century. The value and destiny of a woman was occasionally mentioned in a couple of episodes: a widow cannot remarry, a "tainted" woman is expected to kill herself. FL is not naive. She knows that ML is unreliable. If he decides that she's too boring for him, he could easily leave her, and she would not be able to build up a new life. FL is not stupid.

There also was no social system. What about FL's mentally disabled father and the little brother? Who would provide for them? Lee Jang-hyun who disappears and reappears whenever he wants? Who had never reached out in months to let her know he's still alive?

If the husband allows her to be with Lee Jang-hyun, is he expected to keep feeding her ex's disabled father and the rest of her family while she's with her actual love?

Apart from that, he has something to lose because he married her (despite she was actually "tainted" after spending the night with Lee Jang-hyun). Him allowing her to move away with another man would have made him look weak in the eyes' of the society. Back then, looking weak was not a good idea because the weak get killed. That's probably one of the reasons why he went alone to save her because if she got "tainted" he could not accept her back due to society. Without any witnesses, he could do that.
