In one of the scenes they showed her head was outside the grave...so as long as she's breathing and like you said , her hands were tied in front andshe had the flute...so plausible to get out.... I think humans are capable of unexpected things when in a crisis.
I think murderer shen is a psycho... Its just the writers have added a lot of complexity and the actor is really good at expressing the nuances. I hold to my opinion that he's a willing participant in all this mess, and he may surprise us, and turn out to be even crazier than the princess. I really hope he gets it good!!

Open to multiple was my way of politely saying, open to f#@£ around/cheat on his marriage.... There's no hesitation in his body language when he embraced and kissed her in yesterday's episode.
She didn't come in between it seems she was already in it because she asked him if he was there to see her... with,yes, familiarity...she noticed the wife standing later, when he looked at her... So i think they'd already begun.
Also if she was sent to the other Kingdom as a hostage for peace, why is she back 🤣 but yes, she seems to weild a lot of power.... And since she's unpredictable and has no bottom line, the king's worries that she will kill anyone who comes in her way.
Also originally it was said that she wanted to be the main wife of the primary scholar (or whatever he's called)... She didn't demand her murder.... Its not clear whose idea it was to ruin her reputation, but you're right, then he could have just demoted her to 2nd wife, why murder her? Too many things are unclear.

Ok I need to ask, WHY does murderer shen (name taken from comments here) tell the Princess that he won't be able to protect her....WHY does he want to protect her? Also in today's episode, he seemed willing in being intimate with the princess. So does he actually care for the princess? While he'd also cared for the wife & was unwilling to murder her... But was willing to link up with the princess to go up the ladder? I'm remembering the scene when he comes out of the palace the 1st time, XFF is waiting on the side, but he instead waits for the princess who asks if he's been waiting for her, and AFTER this is when shen even notices his wife standing on the side!!! Makes me think we were mislead in the beginning about shen being the victim... But now it seems he may just be ambitious, open to multiple partners & have a tiny bit of remorse for murdering her as in his memories she's nice.... however, there's been no regret/remorse for killing her family...& The fact is that he's going on with his life & prospering & doing well for himself ....!
