I'm really glad that I dropped this drama before the arc you mentioned 𤣠Enjoy, lol!
If I try watching it again at this point I might hate it for good, probably later whenever I find myself in passive watch mood. I enjoyed it before but recently it is not giving.
First of all, the narrative was absolutely mediocre from episodes 1 to 10. It doesnāt feel like a layered story at all, but more like a series of short, disconnected plots patched together, finish one, move on to the next. Thatās one of the main reasons I always end up dropping most donghua, no matter how hard I try. Somehow, I just keep losing interest because the storylines are practically hookless.
Then, from episodes 12 to 19, things went downhill drastically. I found myself fast-forwarding through scenes and skipping dialogue just to get through it. What pissed me off the most is how the female characters were written, they have nothing going on except chasing Han Li around like lost puppies. It's frustrating, especially when theyāre supposed to be talented cultivators with their own ambitions. In this epic constructed setting, every supporting character seems to exist solely to help Han Li achieve his goals.
The only truly memorable supporting role was Physician Mo, he gave a solid performance that initially pulled me into the story. After him, all the villains just felt like... Flat. Even Wang Dou's performance, which had potential, was ultimately forgettable because the character's background was so shallow. Honestly, I couldnāt even remember most of the character names.
As for the effects? are we regressing back to the 2010s? They were passable at the beginning, not impressive even for a moment, but gradually declined with each episode. And itās not just Immortal Ascension, itās like Ascension of the Waistband to Bustline š Why would they treat the female lead like that? Iām genuinely glad Li Qin managed to escape this train wreck. Oh! and letās not even talk about the Miss Oblivion Pill consumer. What a ridiculous plot device to keep her tied to Han Li as a savior. I wanted to scratch my brain out at how poorly that was handled. I came here for entertainment, but it just keeps annoying me.
They even went all the way to Xinjiang Province for the shoot and somehow still managed to make those breathtaking landscapes look dull and underwhelming. What a waste of visual potential!
The lead performances were fantastic. Yang Yang, Zhao Qing (honestly, the first time I genuinely liked her), Jin Chen, and the rest really gave it their all. Thumbs up to them! I just donāt even want to talk about Han Li anymore not because of the actor, but because of how bland and hollow his characterization was.
As a passerby, this is my honest opinion on this drama, the bad things outweigh the good things. I should've trusted my guts and dropped it around episode 7-8 but I was really optimistic about it. 7/10 is a generous score from me. Pass.
Just breaking this drama in, but seriously, 7.8.!!! MDL ratings are a joke now.So far im liking the mystery elements…
five people were in a boats, four were killed and one was safe and sound and ultimately became the prime suspect that killed her father. so, do you expected her to hug/kiss him after she met him at another crime scene that he's still a suspect? stabbing him was kind cool and thats her characterization. if you've paid attention you'll see that deadly poison was an accident caused by the coroner. if you wants paper and Mary Sue FL perhaps you should stick to the Coroner's Diary, period.
best and only trilogy in Cdramas, damn right! because you know, they usually lost it in season 2, I couldn't mention a trilogy apart from STOTD in Cdrama. Even this one feels like a copy of that drama for me. in sewing murder case, the way they tried to deduce the next place of the murder as in South, West, North, and East is exactly the same as the first case in the Season 1, but at the end, it just random thing unlike STOTD. Also this Yesha sounds like Shasi, which was their last case in season 1 who wanted to get revenge on the royals. if you remember Take of Shasi.
wahhhhh, episode 7-8 are absolute bangersš„š„š„ the suspense and the adrenaline rush is killing me inside. this is the detective drama that I love, can't wait for tomorrow!
Xue Ranran/Mu Qingge and Wei Jiu in there third lifetime as fre-nemy yet again𤣠Julia Xiang is fantastic, her acting hooked me in LOTDT not the plot, she's slaying as Xueman better than I expected.
Hidden Shadow isnāt coming out anytime soon. Maybe by the time they start promotions, Yan An will have recovered…
poor Li Hongyi, 3 years without a drama because all his projects are under Youku. let's us pray that they won't shelved this one like Tian Shu Li Ming. if this was under iQiyi, then we could've watched it already.
Hidden Shadow isnāt coming out anytime soon. Maybe by the time they start promotions, Yan An will have recovered…
stop axing my hope like thisš I don't know why they pulled it from May alot but I'm still hopeful for September release, VOA is literally a short drama that will finish airing in less than two weeks, I'm still optimistic about Hidden Shadow because they've already started investment promotion before. Youku are damn unreliable in their schedule and thats where iQiyi beats them
So the *GENRES* are fake??? You read the genres which is Thriller, History, Mystery with these combinations, you…
isn't obvious enough that they want idol romance drama disguised as a detective drama just like recently finished airing drama? whenever there's a solid detective drama, they'll flock to downrate just because it is not there taste and without even watching it properly, double standard of this community.
I am thinking of watching a drama with martial arts and that stuff, this one is rated 8.1 . is it good and watchable.…
honestly, this is definitely a good watch, martial arts here is epicš„ I think the last time we seen this epic martial art was in A Journey to Love. I started this just to see if it is ridiculous but I'm blown away. try it for yourself.
I was a passerby that clicked it open just to laugh and drop it, unexpectedly episode 3 hooked me into the story. what an amazing performance from Physician Mo, the tension in that episode was PEAK. I caught all the episodes in two days and I even watched episode 11 twice today š„š„š„something that I've never done before. āHan Li, no one is coming to save youā tension hit me harder whenever he's fighting, I absolutely love it bc I find myself rooting for him despite his killing spree and corpse looting š¤£
the narrative felt like a brain convolution to me, gyri and sulci, build up then a payback, that's the flow of the narrative. it could've been improved! thats my only issue for this drama. Bonus of enjoying it more for me was because It feels like a sister drama of Ever Night which I absolutely loved, my best Xuanhuan drama. Sets and the fantastic action scenes reminds me of it in a good way. oh goodness, that's how immortal supposed to fight not swinging hands left to right only.
I like Han Li no doubt, thanks to Yang Yang that brought this amazing performance from Yang Yang. oh , I want to see Mo Caihuan again, she standout despite her little screentime, I have to say thats the magic of Yang Yang on female characters.
the anticipation here is damn top notch, even the moderator are anticipating this the way they immediately updated the airing date, Cdrama taking the first place in upcoming list is rare in this platform.
Hahaha 𤣠I was sooo reluctant to start this drama because I literally just crawled out of Stay With Meātook me 2 whole years to finish that one, no kidding š . But wow, Iām glad I did⦠this one is a ridiculously crazy wild ride!
Right after finishing the first episode, I was frozen to the bone. Guess what? Iāve actually done something similar to this whole Revenged-Love plot back when I was a senior student š¤£š¤£š¤£. Take away the overdramatic scenes, and Iām basically Wu Sou Wei!
Four episodes in, and itās sooo goddamn toxic š š„ but I canāt look away! Even just thinking about it is enough to spike my testosterone, not to mention actually watching it. I better keep my mouth shut⦠or rather, tie my hands š¤£š.
